    Requestng DP help

    ...with the I-15bis or POLIKARPOV_I15_tipo2 1939 by xavierb. The download plane has 1000 rounds of mg ammo ( 7.62 mm (0.30 in)PV-1 or ShKAS machine guns) and 2000 rounds for cannon! I should be armed with four 7.62 mm (0.30 in)PV-1 or ShKAS machine guns, plus up to 150 kg (330 lb) of bombs.

    The section of the dp (I think) looks like:

    [GUNSTATIONS]
    ;
    gunstation.0=0,-2,1,0.05,780,2,0.02,500,0,20,1d1*7,-2.019,-0.2,-0.6,-0.128056,0,0.38560350701058,0,0,0,0,0.344

    [guns.2]

    Also the later variant the I-153 or POLIKARPOV_I153_VVS by xavirb has 2 mgs and 2 20mm cannon but again 1000/2000 rounds!

    Any help with these would be greatly appreciated. A dp tutorial would be nice. I remember seeing one on line once upon a time...

    There was a thread similar to this not long ago,what you need is
    Caleb_Flerk's_Guide_to_Speshul_Efeks_for_CFS2 which is at SOH but I don't have the link,

    Found the link

    Thanks TheBookie. I found a dp edit utility there too. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...id=49&id=20511

    Still having problems...

    I have tried to understand both utilities. I managed to reduce the ammo counts on both the I-15 and I-16 but can't replace the cannon on the planes that have them or reduce te ammo counts on the cannon equipped planes. Help??

    Hi Shadow Wolf

    Why do you think think the second pair of guns are 20mm? The damage dice are pretty much for a ShKas 7.62mm machine gun (1d1*8) as are the rest of the values, i.e rate of fire, muzzle velocity and projectiles weight. He has it set up so that you can fire each pair separately. I don't understand the gun sound value of 0 though, it should be a 1 for a light MG. I don't know what the rounds per gun were on this aircraft but it looks to be way too high.

    I find editing the .dp manually is much easier than trying to do it with an utility.

    This is how the the value string for guns is laid out:

    [gunstations] B ;M ;U ;RATE ;MVEL;SEE ;AI T ;AIR ;S ;TR ;HITPTS ;GUN LOCATION ;GUNS UP; ? ; GUNS CROSS ; ?;?;?;? ;WEIGHT
    gunstation.0= 0 ,2 ,1 , 0.08 , 839 , 2 , 0.01 ,550 ,2 ,40 ,1d1*14 , 2.893, 0.243828125,0 ,-0.1196,0 ,0.5525 , 0,0,0,0 ,1.6

    B =FIRING BUTTON 0=MAIN TRIGGER 1=SECONDARY TRIGGER 2=ROCKETS 3=BOMBS
    M =GUN MODEL (MY SOURCE SAYS THIS)/ I SAY IT'S A SYSTEM CODE AND IT MATTERS A GREAT DEAL
    U =UNKNOWN BUT YOU MUST MAKE THIS THE TRIGGER NUMBER PLUS ONE FOR THE GUNS TO FIRE
    RATE =FIRING RATE
    MVEL =MUZZLE VELOCITY
    SEE(LATER?)=SOURCE SAYS TIME TRACERS ARE VISIBLE/I SAY ITS AGRESSIVENESS FOR WINGMEN
    AI T =AI FIRING TIME
    AIR =AI PLANES FIRE AT THIS RANGE
    S =SOUND OF THE GUN
    TR =TRACER PERCENTAGE/MOST TIMES VALUE=40 (100% MEANS YOU ONLY FIRE BLANKS)
    HITPTS. =HIT POINTS
    GUNS UP =DECREASING THIS NUMBER TOWARDS MORE NEGATIVE(-) VALUES MAKES THE GUN FIRE HIGHER(ELEVATION)
    ? =UNKNOWN EFFECT ON GUN/POSITION/STRENGTH OR EFFECTIVENESS (DETAILS OF RESEARCH TO FOLLOW)
    GUNS CROSS =CHANGES THE LATERAL ANGLE OF FIRE(WINDAGE)
    WEIGHT =WEIGHT POUNDS/ROUND

    Attached is Vincent Farnham's .dp tutorial which I find is the best that has been done. Read through it and you can use it to set up the guns how you like.

    Thank you Captain Kurt very much!

    The reason I think it's for 20mm/cannon is because the HUD reads: "cannon 2000 rounds" and the Japanese Ki-27 goes down like a feather with the shortest burst. The sources I have fir the early models of thr I-15bis show 4 7. 62 mm but no ammo count. I would assume 300-500 per gun, max. The I-153 (the "P" variant had 2-20mm and 2 7.762mm mgs but the total 2000 rounds fo cannon is, in my opinion, way too high.

    I will look over the doc you attached and try again th "fix" the dps of both planes. Incidentally, I have the same large ammo totals for the gun and cannon armed I-16. I guess the designer, xavierb, liked large ammo totals as opposed to setting of "unlimited ammo."
