Exclamation Captain Kurt, I'm having issues with the DCC P-38J update...

    Kurt,

I am trying to trace whether it is a 2d or VC panel issue, but the P-38J panel was causing CTD errors in missions when the aircraft is either used or spawned.

One issue might be that there are a total of four gauges that are missing when examined with gauge explorer...

    Specifically: fsd_ww2_ammeter1.gau, fsd_ww2 ammeter2.gau, p-38_plaque_1.gau, and fsd_p38gear.gau

    I hand-edited the panel.cfg replaced them with fsd_P38_ammeter1.gau, fsd_P38_ammeter2.gau, p38_plaque_1.gau, and fsd_p38_gear_CK.

It turned out to be neither. Using the older DCC conversion model, with your panel.cfg, including the VC, your airfile, and the aircraft.cfg, I have no issues with the aircraft having CTD issues.

So, it basically traces down to either a crash fix or light states issue in the model. I'd like to use the updated P-38J in this project!

    Hi Andrew

    It's none of the above.

Try these J and L models and see if they correct the problem. These are modifications done by Mav that I haven't gotten ready for posting as an update fix yet.

It should fix the crash and also fix the flaps on the L model.

If these work for you I will get an update for the DCC 38's posted today.

    Kurt,

I don't get a CTD error with the new "J" model, and all of the 2d and VC gauges work with my edits, but my FPS is horrible with the new model. It's probably significantly better on my desktop.

    Hi Andrew

It is a FS2004 conversion with a no LODs so some FR decrease is to be expected. How is it running on your desktop? On mine it slows a little in busy missions but is still at an acceptable FR. I get 26FPS with 24 of them in the air on an old XP rig. Newer, faster systems should be exponentially better.
    Cheers,

    Kurt,

Aha! I didn't realize is isn't a multi-lod conversion. On my laptop, my FPS is between 7 and 12 with several in the air. If I mate your airfile, panel, and .cfg files to the old model, my FPS goes up to about 40 with scores in the air. So I've basically got a good hybrid compromise.
