    Low FPS and stutters

So I'm pulling my hair out because I just don't get it. I don't understand why my system can only do 28-32 FPS, no matter where I fly, and why I get stutters at full screen but not in windowed.

    My system:

    • AMD 2700X @ stock (Cpu speed on all cores is around 3950Mhz
    • 16 GB DDR4 RAM @ 3200Mhz
    • EVGA GTX1080
    • ASUS X470-Pro Mobo
    • Xplane is running from a 500Gb Samsung SATA SSD
    • 25” ASUS monitor at 2560x1440 at 60Hz.

Nvidia settings are at stock, except for Vsync set to Adaptive (half refresh rate) to eliminate the stutters at full screen. I know that this setting on its own will cap the frame at 30, but even with Vsync off, my frame rate is still no better than 28-32.

    Xplane graphic settings:
    • textures set to High
    • AA set to 2 SSAA x FXAA
    • World objects set to high (reducing this gains no appreciable increases in frame rate)
    • reflections set to medium (setting this to low introduces stutters)
    • Aircraft model is set to 2
    • A/I traffic is set to none

Any ideas on what is going on?

After some reading, and some tinkering, I was able to get a significant boost, and stutter removal when I set Threaded Optimization to ON. No more Window mode for me. I have read where this option is a bit of a mixed bag. It works for some people, but not for others. I guess I was one of the lucky ones.

Might want to try the 11.50 beta if you're brave enough. It provides a good boost to performance in Vulkan mode.
