Yes, it works pretty well.
With it, you can add weapons as well as working FLIR, radar, chaff, flares and a Radar Warning Receiver to any airplane.
Something I have been working on... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoD0IGLxMVA ... it still needs some ironing out though.

NC,
Big thread on this over on the VRS forums. I am not comfortable enough with MCX yet to do my own mods, but others have.

If you aren't worried about visuals (i.e. seeing the bombs fall off of your airplane) and just want to be able to drop bombs and fire guns and missiles, then you can pretty easily add Tacpack to any airplane.
The way the visibility part works is that when you drop something, Tacpack makes it disappear (sets the station weight to 0) and at the same time instantly adds a bomb in it's place.....which then free falls to the ground.
If you the airplane model doesn't have bombs on the stations, then Tacpack will still drop stuff.... but they appear out of thin air.
If you have the Tacpack add-on then here is everything you need to get started with TMAP
