    Icon28 That was fun, Thank God I only had to do this once...

    Hey guys,

    Trying to draw the Swiss border as a frontline to mark enemy territory was a royal pain in the arse when you have a maximum of 32 mark points. At least it's reasonably close...

    Icon22 The work on Part II has begun...

    Good afternoon,

    The work on Part II of the Battle of France has begun in earnest. Thanks to Captain Kurt for four new airfields around Paris, and a British emergency field further along the Seine.

    Also, a couple of new missions already...

    "title_string"=BoF Kampfgeschwader -
    "summary_string"=Kamerad, herhoren! As part of our effort to bleed France white, most Kampfgeschwader units will be dispatched to attack targets all over France. Your Ju-88s will raid the Port of Marseille in Southern France. This area hasn't seen much action, so this will be a warning that no quarter of France is still safe! Und passen Sie auf sich auf!
    "objective_string"=On 1 June 1940, a total of eighteen Ju-88s lifted off from Lechfeld airfield at 0400 and headed to the French city of Marseille. To avoid flying over Swiss airspace, they flew west-southwest to Lyon, then south through the Rhone River valley to reach the French port. Due to fuel limitations, this route will be more direct. In the actual mission, the 88s caused moderate damage to the Kuhlmann chemical plant & the harbor. The British troop ship Oxford was hit, along with a French auxiliary cruiser, the Chella. One Junkers was hit by anti-aircraft fire, and failed to make it back over the Alps. Another 88 was lost later that day when additional Ju-88s raided the port, this time they got intercepted by Bloch fighters of GC III/9. This mission focuses on the morning raid.
    "intelligence_string"=Once airborne you'll fly southwest over the Alps to reach the French port, and then reverse course to fly a parallel route back home. You will need to stay at 3,500m or higher to cross the Alps safely. Due to fuel concerns, this route places you at risk for intercepts by Swiss fighters, so if caught, try to outrun 'em & reach German or Italian airspace. Over this port, target the docks, warehouses, and chemical plant. Viel Gluck!
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=KM_JU88_A-4 I/KG 30
    "airfield_string"=Germany - Schongau

    "title_string"=BoF Kampfgeschwader -
    "summary_string"=Aufpassen Manner! Lyon-Bron aerodrome is a base for several French fighter squadrons, and is being used to intercept our bomber formations as we fly out of the Alps & then turn south along the Rhone River valley. Your bombers are being sent today to level the base facilities and destroy their fighters on the ground! Let's show the French that Fall Rot will overwhelm their remaining defenses and force them out of the war!
    "objective_string"=On the afternoon of 1 May 1940, some thirty-five Heinkel 111s of III/KG 53 left bases in Bavaria to hit Lyon-Bron airfield, but were first intercepted over Swiss airspace by 109-D fighters, losing two bombers, and then over Lyon by French Bloch 152s of GC III/9. French pilots claimed two more 111s, but nine of their fighters were damaged, and four pilots wounded. As they departed, another He-111 was damaged near the town of Oyannax, and was later shot down by Swiss 109s. This sortie differs from the real raid with risk of Swiss interception occuring on the return flight, and by including an escort of Bf-110s to help protect your flight over France.
    "intelligence_string"=Lyon-Bron is southwest of you, but your route will take you close to the Swiss border. After takeoff, you will form up with the other Heinkels and head southwest, picking up your Zerstorer escort near the French border. As you approach Lyon, you will hit the field from the north, & then turn northeast to reach Germany. On your return flight be sure to not cross over into Swiss airspace, they have been aggressively defending their skies. Your altitude for this raid will be 4,500m, and the other flights will stagger in altitude. Put your bombs on target, and then get back home!

    RJ,

    I'm really not sure....that's a tall task; I am thinking no; I am actually more inclined to put in place the factories and other facilities that Luftwaffe bombers were targeting instead. Unlike London or Berlin, Paris was not bombed in the same manner, so building all of that scenery would not only be tremendously time-consuming, it would also have little reward other than for sightseeing and eye candy.

    Icon22 Quarantined and ready...

    Hey guys,

    Well, since I am on a Corona-mandated, quarantined holiday through 29 March, aside from getting some extra work done for class and doing some revamping of my curriculum this weekend, I'll have plenty of time to work on CFS2. Not only have they cancelled school, they have also cancelled church.

    Look for some updates soon...

    Good evening,

    Achim has given me some new airfield to test, and I have built the city of Grenoble. I am currently working on the city of Valence along the Rhone. And a couple of new missions, to boot...

    "title_string"=Battle of France -
    "summary_string"=Rendez-vous a vos chasseurs! Throughout the day, the Luftwaffe has been sending their bombers to raid targets across France, and are entering north of Switzerland. Your fighters will patrol this area & attempt to throw further raiders back, showing them that we won't allow the enemy to exploit this area any longer!
    "objective_string"=This mission is an amalgam of two German raids on Amberieu; each Luftwaffe raid by III/KG 53 was intercepted by D-520s of GC II/7 on 1 June 1940. In their first raid, three Heinkels were mauled by GC II/7 near the Swiss border. The next raid saw more 111s mauled by no less than seven fighters of GC II/7, as well as further damage from fighters of GC I/5. This sortie covers attacks by GC II/7, as the Heinkel bombers cross into France on their way to the city of Amberieu.
    "intelligence_string"=After takeoff, head east toward cities and towns near the Franco-German border. Luftwaffe raids from Bavaria like to fly just north of Switzerland and turn south near Dijon as they proceed to Lyon and other targets. Begin the patrol at Vesoul, then continue to Belfort before turning for Besancon. If you find enemy raiders, tear into 'em, watching for any escorts. Your altitude for this sweep will be 5,000m, the other two flights will remain 500m above and below. When you exhaust all your ammo, return to Dijon. Do not chase the bombers south of Besancon, Lyon-based fighters will intercept from there if the enemy continues south. Bonne chance!
    "player_aircraft_name_string"=Dewoitine D520 Mai 1940
    "airfield_string"=France - Dijon

    "title_string"=BoF Kampfgeschwader -
    "summary_string"=Kamerad, herhoren! As part of our effort to bleed France white, most Kampfgeschwader units will be dispatched to attack targets all over France. Your unit is tasked with hitting rail & industrial targets in Grenoble. This city is near the Swiss border, so precise navigation will be needed. The area hasn't seen much action, so this will be a warning that no sector of France is still safe! Und passen Sie auf sich auf!
    "objective_string"=This mission is an amalgam of two German bomber raids. During the afternoon of 1 June, He-111s of I & III/KG 53 left airfields near Frankfurt to hit rail targets near the city of Grenoble. During this raid, they were intercepted near the Swiss border on the return flight over the town of Pontarlier by P-36s from GC I/5 and Dewoitines of GC II/7. At least one Heinkel drifted into Switzerland, where is was intercepted by Swiss 109s and later made a forced landing. At least two French fighters were shot down by these bombers.
    "intelligence_string"=Following takeoff, form up with the other He-111s & fly southwest into France, climbing up to 5,000 meters. In France, hold course until you reach the town of Amberieu, then turn south-southeast for Grenoble. This should keep you clear of the Swiss border. As you near the city, hit the rail station in the northwest sector while other flights strike the refinery and two manufacturing plants. After you release, turn north-northeast and clear out. Your return path will put you close to the Swiss border, so be sure not to drift into Switzerland. Keep an eye out for fighters as well. Hals und Beinbruch!

    Just wondering, are you able to make this lettering with your American QWERTY keyboard?

    à

    I am asking because your sentence above would be far more correct if it was written like this : "Rendez-vous à vos chasseurs !"

    Also, note that in French you need a space before "?", "!", ";" or ":".

    Roxanne-21,

    On Windows 7, that wasn't an issue. On Windows 10, any accents result in garbled text when you read it on the mission information screen.
