    Chevrolet Suburban for P3Dv4

    Hi!

I thought it would be time to introduce my current Chervrolet project.

First, a big thank you to Manfred Jahn and Rob Barendregt for the excellent support. Now the Chevrolet has built much more technology than I would have ever wished for. Starting with the driving dynamics and the automatic transmission from Rob, up to animation codes, WindshildRainEffect and functioning brake lights based on the LUA Script Code from Manfred. It's a lot of fun to learn from the two and get support!

What has happened so far ...

First, the simple things had to be introduced to the Chevrolet: animations of the doors etc as well as a driver:

    The driver of the Chevrolet

    The WindshildRainEffekt

    Chevrolet in Metalic-Look

The Avatar Niels will be included in the Package

You know, have a 9 year old grandson who loves to play P3D to drive a car….the only one I found ia a BMW. Sure he will love yours...

Not sure who recorded the song, and I do know I'm biassed, but I can assure you : your grandson "Ain't seen nothing (simular) yet" … in a flightsimulator addon...

    Fascinating developments......

Could the song possibly be BTO's (Bachman Turner Overdrive) - classic "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet"?......

    Hi Postbaer61.

Your hope will not be disappointed as the Chevrolet Suburban collaborative project is expected to be released next weekend. As far as Rob and Manfred's time permits, the FSX Version will be ready with luck. Hopefully both Versions FSX & P3Dv4 will be released at the same time :-)

    Hi Ulrich,

Like Maryadi's MV22B addon you are familiar with, another example of a 'niche' addon to enjoy in flightsimming.
    I'm sure you'll be thrilled when it's released …….

    Cheers, Rob

    Hi Rob,

I'm pretty sure about it. If three such great experts
had their hands on it . . .

    Cheers

    Hi!

Maybe it actually works that the P3Dv4 version and the FSX version are released at the same time. Anyway, creating the FSX version seems less complicated than initially thought

Thank you...thank you...thank you. This is fantastic. Just took it for a quick spin around the airport and what fun. Great sounds and drives like it should.

When I go to a new airport I usually drive around it, and sometimes the city (I figure with all I've paid to Orbx and others I want my monies worth), using the BMW...this is much superior. Can't wait to do more.

    Again thank you.

Thank you for this excellent addon. I'm using it in P3Dv4.5. It's the best ground vehicle that I have used since I've been flight siming. Traveling on the ground adds a whole new perspective. I'm now putting my Orbx HD Buildings to another good use, lol.

    Merry Christmas

Thank´s for that nice Car , really nice !!

Thanks for a great work. My youngest grandson will love it! He loves to drive, not to fly.
Drove a while around Lisbon and have a little problema, try and error, with transmission selector. Have to stop engine to start, select transmission, start engine, moving. My car has manual shifts only... Using a Thustmaster T16000M and wondering if it will be possible to control rpm with Throttle button and brake with Fire.
These are the ones he uses to drive a BMW I think…
Once again, many, many thanks for beautiffull done add-on. Regards

    Hi,

Updated versions have been uploaded to the SOH library.
Will be available in a few hours.

As to the engine starting/stopping sometimes, or problems with the transmission lever: should be solved in the update.

As to driving with Throttle and Brake keys/buttons: sorry, not possible now.
Because this FDE (entirely different for the BMW) uses full, contiguous axis control for both Throttle and Brakes.

In fact, the usualy Throttle axis isn't used, and is forced to a fixed low value.
Short explanation: this FDE doesn't really use the "engine" as FSX/P3D knows it; so unlike what you see and hear, the FSX/P3D "engine"continuously runs at a fixed, low Idle when the Chevy engine is running.

    Best regards, Rob

    Hello Rob,

Great Vehicle...just did a drive from KMMU to KLGA. Drove very well...could control her even at 120mph.

    Two issues I had:
    1. Could not see any wipers. Wiper lever went from Slow to Fast to Off...but nothing moved. Both from in the VC and from outside.
    2. Had trouble controlling Nils. Could make him move forward with either elevator control on my Honeycomb or the right brake on my pedals...but could not get him to turn either with turning (banking) the control horn nor with the rudder pedals. I know I can use the Keyboard but the other avatars I can control from my Yoke and would like to do with Nils. Anything I need to do?

Thanks...and thanks again for this...adds a lot of fun.

Hi Garry, thanks for your feedback!

The power must be switched on for the wiper to work. For me, I put the battery switch on a button on the joystick, but there is no battery switch in the Chevrolet itself!

The avatar is relatively easy to control. If you detach it from the aircraft or select it directly from the vehicle menu, it can be helpful to press the F9 key - then you have Rear view.
With the WADX buttons, it can then be controlled quite easily. Made a small document a long time ago:

Hope it helps you further .. always a good trip. Or run well :-))
