Finally, I got a working install with UT's Marcus-Wake and all is good! Thank you sir! All I need now is to finish up th downloads readme, once he uploads his work and wait for feedback from my mission tester and I will upload this campaign.

Wake & Marcus have been uploaded. Wake has 2 sceneries, one as per December 1941, & the default is set up for late 1943.

Also uploaded some scenery eye-candy that can be added to missions ... thanks to Allen & Stuart 277 for helping me with these.

Many thanks to you UncleTgt. I have already incorporated them.

I have incorporated them and they work fine. I am waiting for my tester to do a few more missions before publihing. He is suffering from a flu-like illness and I'm sure is resting.

Back from a trip to CA, I too will be testing and taking screenshots.

Can't wait or the update. I need to get back to flying in your current one. Been too busy lately.

I should release it in a couple of weeks, Highpockets. I have a few more missions to test-fly and some editing to do on the mission briefings. I'm happy to see you are okay. It's been a while since I've heard from you.

    Cheers

    Hi all:

I spoke too soon. I am replacing one author's model of the F6f-5 with another and I'm putting in at least 3 of Stuart277's new USN DD classes. It will take me about a month to go through all 147 missions. At about 6 missions/day, well.. do the math. Testing will be on-going.

Thanks for your concern about my absence. Us old guys need to look after each other.
I would volunteer to test some missions but got too much going on right now outside of flying the sim and afraid I might delay your release.
    Keep up the good work.

No problem HP. I'll keep you all informed as I go on with screenshots.. I will give you something to fly soon. I am currently inserting historically accurate ship names and classes for both the USN and IJN. I am up to the raid on Rabaul now.

    Hey Uncle Tgt!

Whenever I fly my Wake Island missions I have a problem: I have 8 missions over UT's new Wake. I take off from the carrier, warp to WP 2 and approach the island. When I get 6-8 miles from Wake the missions lock up and CTD! This occurs in all 8 missions., every time! I have UT's Marcus installed, but don't have this problem there. When I fly over Wake in Free Flight - no problem.

I'm gonna try to fly over Wake in a mission using my same layout for the island as in the campaign missions and see what happens. Any ideas beyond that? I'm sure the problem is not the ships or planes - it has to be the island itself or the layout. Help!!!

    Greg,

Remove the layout first and just have the bare island. Fly the missions. If they still CTD, it's something to do with the Island install. If they fly okay, start putting parts of the layout back in, say 10 objects at a time until it crashes. Then remove everything again and start putting one object at a time from the last group of objects, until you get a CTD. That would be the culprit and an easy fix by removing it from the layout.

If it's the island bgl, that would have to go back UncleTgt for troubleshooting unless you are good with SCASM and can work on a decompiled island bgl.
    Cheers,

    Captain Kurt

Thanks Kurt. I just built a mission with 1 flight of F6Fs and the layout. I'll give that a try first in a few mins, then If it crashes, I'll try your method without the layout. I hope it works out and I don't have to send it back to UT. I don't have the knowledge To decompile SCASMs.

    Greg

PS: Captain, It worked with the island and the layout. That means the problem is with the missions themselves. Oh well, looks like a 8 mission re-do is in my future. I'll do them, testing as I go.

Couple of screenshots by way of a

    Donationware SBD-5 from VB-9 ...

Whilst painting this I discovered the lower LOD texture mapping is screwed up, so you get weirdness like mirrored tailfin numbers as the aircraft moves away from you - oh well

Also tried a couple of FDG2 Hellcat skins for VF-9. Lot's of texture mesh distortion, so difficult to get stars & bars to look right from all angles. I agree with Captain Kurt, Allen's reworked stockers are a better start point for the Hellcat at the moment...

    Hi Shadow Wolf

Just curious but why does the Helldiver have a belly mounted bomb? They had an internal bomb bay, didn’t they?
    Cheers,

    Captain Kurt

Honestly I don't know why. I thought so too. My dp must be screwed up.

"Just curious but why does the Helldiver have a belly mounted bomb? They had an internal bomb bay, didn’t they?"

    Hi Captain:

Yes, I checked. I have Wolfi's SB2C4 and in the dp and in the aircraft preview window she has 2 X 1000lb bombs on the wings and 1 2000lb mounted externally under the belly for the "bombs, heavy" payload. She has a torpedo, mounted externally. And for "bombs, medium" she has 2 X 500lb on the wing mounts with 1 X 1000 pounder in the bomb bay. I guess the 2000 pounder is too large to be carried internally. Also, I thought the bombs in the pic looked a little large, but from a re-download and the dp, it uses dbolt's weaps, so I imagine all is correct.

A question for you and others: The site, http://www.researcheratlarge.com/Shi...oups/CV-9.html shows that Essex's airgroup had a significant number of F4U-1D's aboard from January 45. I need to rewrite several missions to incorporate this aircraft. Can you or someone else recommend a good F4U-1D for me to use?

    Thanks:

    SW07
