Man, I want this thing so bad...and I saw the P4BY-1 screenshot and thought "That looks like 'Calvert n Coke'..." And it was!

    Looking fantastic!

Really looking forward to this. Wonder if it's possible for one of the gifted skinners to do a version of Jimmy Stewart's B-24.

As Squadron Commander of the 703rd BS, 445th BG (as he was already assigned in the States), and later the Operations Officer with the 453rd BG, Jimmy Stewart never had an assigned B-24 and flew missions on a number of different Liberators, almost always in the co-pilot's position with whichever crew/crew's plane he flew with. As Squadron Commander of the 703rd BS/445th BG, Stewart flew missions on the B-24H "Lady Shamrock" (42-52348), B-24H "Nine Yanks and a Jerk" (41-29118), B-24H "Tenovus" (41-29132), B-24H "Gremlin's Roost" (42-7512), B-24H "Dixie Flyer" (42-95247), and a couple missions on lead pathfinder B-24's with the H2X (names/identities I'm not aware of). As Operations Officer of the 453rd BG, Stewart flew at least one of his missions on the B-24H "Heavenly Body" (41-29210), though I'm not sure of any others confirmed. With the 453rd, Stewart has also been associated with the B-24H "Male Call" (42-52154), but I don't know if he actually ever flew any missions on that aircraft (it has become associated with him for some publicized photos that were taken of Stewart talking to the crew in front of that aircraft). Future actor Walter Matthau also served as a B-24 radio operator/gunner in the 453rd.

I am so greatly looking forward to the release of this B-24 for FSX/P3D. It looks phenomenal inside and out, and I am a great admirer of the level of accuracy and detail. The only thing that will be missing is the gas leaks/fumes (which I understand was a problem that persisted with Consolidated B-24 production).

Mike, you can't convince me that the black and white image of "Fightin Sam" on your Facebook page is a "screenshot." The attention to detail is outstanding! But now it's time to move on to some Hump-weary C-87s!

those shots on facebook look outstanding, I am very much looking forward to this one, and my paintbrushes are ready!
You can find most of my repaints for FSX/P3D in the library here on the outhouse.
I hope all you guys who are going to buy the FR B24 will become part of the 461st Bomb Group with us when it is released.
You will be putting all Mike's hard work to what it was designed for. Ed has completed the first 16 missions flown in April, 1944 complete with ai Axis Fighters and targets authentically recreated from after mission reports and Luftwaffe records right down to recreated weather for mission day in the server with Active Sky. Everybody will have the same weather using JoinFS. In addition working with the developers of FSCAI the ai bombers follow the mission and bomb the target as you can see in his post above. We tested it this week flying escort in P40s. Our home field of Torretta, Italy has the metal runways and with the help of FSDevelopers guys and Doug Dawson's sound gauge we have a realistic rumble as you roll across the runways, too. Come on and help us honor the "Greatest Generation" of guys who gave all so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today. That's really what our 461st BG is all about.

Do you guys fly in real time and what is the home field time zone?

Do you guys fly in real time and what is the home field time zone?
We fly 1:1 time ratio if that is what you are asking. It pretty much ruins multiplayer if someone uses time compression. If you are asking whether we fly using Italy's time zone, the answer is no. I believe that Torretta would be GMT +2 while the US east coast is GMT-5. That is asking too much of sim pilots especially if they are on the west coast.

Looks like I will have to use some vacation time when this one rolls out of the FR hangar and into mine

Hope it is released very soon as the $A is in a massive nose dive.

    Cheers
