    MDLnames.txt

Seems as I read somewhere that these do not need to be added from the new install if installing just to fly missions and campaigns and not to use MB. Did I dream this.

    Hi Highpockets,

I have never added anything to my MDL names. Everything works for me.
I think it only gives you more info on items when selected using MB.

I think you are right Highpockets.
That extra info can be looked at in different ways.
As my memory isn't what it used to be, I've been adding object names to mdlnames but, to the right of "=" entering a group or category prefix. So, all bridges now start with =bridge_xx after the objectdp name. I don't put every object into mdlnames. I save mdlname entries for infrastructure I commonly use in MB. Old mdlname entries have also been getting the "category" treatment, with prefix entries like AA, GP (gun pit), NG (naval gun) and hangar.

Thanks guys. It is a lot of work to add them each as you proceed through the install instructions in anyone's missions or campaigns. I just fly and get shot down!
