    Next in line...Messerschmitt Bf109 C/D model for Fs9/CFS2

    Hi Folks,
The next early model Bf109, the C1 and D1 models. The B and C models were pre-war aircraft, whereas the D1 was used in 1939/40, during the early stages of WWII.

Model done, basically a few tweaks and additions to the C/D model including a new spinner and variable prop, along with a lot of new tex choices. Papi has done some new 2D panels and an operating manual, and Huub adding some texs to the pot.

    Not long now.....

    Cheers

They all look great Shessi. They fill out the front end of the 109 line.
I'm also looking forward to Papi's manual.

Shessi, these early Me-109s look really great. Thanks for filling in another chunk of the early history of this aircraft. Also thanks in anticipation of Papi's excellent panels and manual. Just when I think that FS9 is about at the end of the road for new aircraft offerings, more excellence arrives.

A friend asked me if I was going to get a new PC to cope with the upcoming FS 2020. It is an indication of the excellence of the a/c, both payware and freeware, that have been produced for this very old programme, together with the fact that it has given me a lot of personal sim-flying satisfaction, that I have not really been looking to upgrade to something 'better'. Maybe I'm at an age where change is always a little suspect and daunting. But I have had such great times flying such great offerings from some real craftsmen and artisans that I see little need to turn to another source, when I have got to know this old friend so well.

Not to mention the unhesitating support and advice given by Sim-Outhouse when a glitch is encountered.

Thank you all from my bunker in the mountains of N Wales.
    Mal

You're correct, the Fins ordered 162 Bf109 Gs from which they received 159. (3 were lost during transport). 48 of them were G-2 aircraft, 2 of them were G-8 reconnaissance aircraft and the rest were G-6 aircraft.
They stayed in service until spring 1954!

So this is a "What if" livery.

    Cheers,
    Huub

When you are not tired from the Bf109 D1 yet, I'm currently working on this one for you:

Maj. Gotthardt Handrick JG88 Spain 1938

After a lot of struggling with the Olympic rings at the spinner, I think the Handrick repaint is ready for upload.

The next one is Werner Mölders in RLM02 finish. "Luchs" is German for "Lynx". The most common theory behind the name of this aircraft is that Mölders had the eyes of a Lynx. Which is why the aircraft became its name from the groundcrew. Based on the pictures of the real aircraft it could also be finished in RLM63 (Light grey) or RLM62 (middle green), which can also be found on several profile drawings. However I choose for RLM02.

    Cheers,
    Huub

Shows off the model, and they compliment each other so well.

    Well done, love 'em!

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the kind words. Both repaints are available in the library now. (I even cleaned the white paint from the navigation light.....)

    Enjoy,
    Huub

Cheers Huub, are they with or without MIP MAPS :-)

found an interesting documentary on the Bf109 on YouTube - search for "The War File : Messerschmitt Bf-109".

Taff, they are without "mipmaps", like most of my repaints.

Thank you for two more sparkling repaints, Huub. I particularly like the Mölders livery. Excellent artwork.

@Shessi: You made a magnificent Bf-109 model ... just tried her tonight and it's a lot of fun! Thanks a lot! The paints Huub and Michael did are a joy as well.

    Hi Elmar,
Thanks for the comments, and I'm glad you're enjoying it, but please remember that the original IL-2 model were built by the guys at SAS, so a big thanks to them.

And a good team effort to bring it, along with the ops manual and texs to Fs9.

    Cheers

    The original......

And the repaint (still work in progress).........

According to the text with the photograph this should be an aircraft from 10.(N)JG26, but the small owl is clearly the marking of 10.(N)JG2. The picture is most likely taken at Jever, spring 1940.

    Cheers,
    Huub

You really are a 109-spotter aren't you!! ha ha!

Nice tex, and still surprised that C/D's were still being used in 1940.

The square winged Bf109s have always been my favourites .

This unit was flying the Bf109 D as a nightfighter until the end of June 1940. The Bf109 D stayed in used much longer in training unit of course.

Personally I find remarkable is that nearly all units which flew the Bf109 D still mid-1940 were converted to the twin engined Bf110 and not to the Bf109 E......

    Cheers,
    Huub

Not a great fan of 109's, but since building them, the early versions have grown on me.

What I'm pleased is that in comparing the two pics, we got it pretty close in the details to the real thing. (spotted an anti-chatter strut on the tail wheel of the real one which shouldn't be there!! ha ha)

Also really pleased that the texs and the models come together so well.

    Cheers

    Shessi
