A problem with ships - help needed

I noticed yesterday that some of my ships are not showing up in the Mission Builder ship type drop down menu - all of the stick SHA_XXX ships ant the PSK -XXX add-ons. I only have 94 ships in my SHIPS folder, so I am not exceeding the 100 ship limitations. I have one install with 110 ships and no problems , so the 94 in this one should not be the issue.

Could this be because I need to put blank text files in the empty folders of the ships? I will try that once I get home. I did add some ships recently and noticed the problem. I reset - closed and re-opened - MB a few times, deleted cdps and all but still no joy Any suggestions?

BTW: Except for this problem, the Essex CV9 campaign revision is moving on nicely. I am in the process of reviewing all the missions fine tuning the events, tightening up the ship formations and replacing some of the ships in preparation for flight testing.

    Hi Shadow Wolf,
All of the PSK ships appear for me in MB. I do have blank docs in the panel and sound folders. I don't know whether that makes a difference but it certainly doesn't hurt.
The limit to the number of ships seems to be variable. I've had error messages with 90 ships and didn't get a clear run until I removed 10 ships. When I replaced them one at a time, restarting CFS2 after each ship was put back I ended up with the original 90, all showing up and no error message.
I have had "no show" ship which turned out to be the texture name being different to the texture name in the ship.cfg, but that was just my lack of attention.

Yep, where CFS2 draws the line is kind of random. As some point, cumulatively, CFS2 just draws the line and says "That's enough!"

I have 144 Ships and 102 planes at the moment and everything is peachy keen.

    Go figure!

Thank you for your responses Ravenna and Maskrider. I added blank text files to all my empty folders and tried it again - no joy. I will try taking some ships out and trying it again. It may be an OS problem - I'm using Win 8.1 on my laptop. If the above fails, I will transfer to my Win 7 system. I haven't tried MB in Win 10 since my last failure to open.

    Hiya Shadow Wolf 07,

FYI: I run CFS2 on my Window 8.1Pro, HP-Pavilion-g7 laptop and everything is functioning normally. (knock on wood)

I transferred everything to my Win7 system, on which I have 120 ships in my SHIPS folder. All the PSK and stock IJN craft show up but none of the SHA ships are on the MB drop-down menu. I will reduce the number of ships there and see what happens. I'm not using any stock ships in this campaign, but the SHA_Indiana is a modified ship that I need.

All this came to pass because Maxstuka, in his ship upgrade download changed the USS South Dakota Class BB to SHA_Indiana for some reason. My earlier missions had used his USS South Dakota class, which is no longer available for download! I am striving for historical accuracy in ship names, types and class for all CL's, CA's, BB's and carriers. I realize that escorts are only eye-candy, but I want it for this campaign.

    I have a copy of "Maxstuka_ship_improvements_part_3" that
has the South Dakota instead of the SHA_Indiana.
I've made a cutout of the South Dakota, try it and see if it works.

Thank you Bwf, That is the ship I have and am replacing in the campaign with his SHA_Indianna. The solution to my problem is right under my nose though. On the mdlnames text file, the SHA_Indiana is listed as USS South Dakota class battleship. That is what is read in the drop-down menu of Mission Builder. SHA_Indiana is what is printed on the mission file
It was dumb of me not to have noticed or remembered that. I'm back to 107 ships and functioning normally...
