    Icon22 sc-kh-payakan-hawkp36 questions

    Hi Guys,

I just downloaded and installed the sc-kh-payakan-hawkp36.zip pack by Sopwith Chameleon and Kelticheart.

Got everything install with no issues.

Did my usual and created separate AC folders for all AC included in the cfg file- there are 7 of them.

    Have two issues:

    1. The cockpit canopies don't open... Which file determines whether cockpit canopies open or don't open? The Dp? Air? Mdl? Can this be solved by some sort of simple entry?

    2. A half dozen or so gauges are missing from the 2D panel (There is no VC) and there is no gauges folder included in the package or anything in the readme about the pack requiring any gauges,,, UPDATE: found a nice panel for the Hawk made by Peperez and included in a Hawk released by Oldwheat.

    Any help appreciated!

    Thanks.
    MR

PS Yes, I know I could open the panel in Panel Studio and find out what gauges are missing but was hoping there might be some sort of easier fix.

    Chris,

The model animation determines whether the cockpit canopy opens or not. IIRC, the aircraft is an FS9 conversion, so it may not be modeled or converted to have the feature.

The only multi-lod P-36 that has such features is the ex-Donationware FDGv2 P-36 Hawk.

Thanks Rami. I'll see if I have it floating around somewhere.

    MR

PS: Thanks again Rami. I went ahead and downloaded a new zip from the Donationware archive. All of the canopies are functioning!

Now to find some more skins. I really like the skins that came with the sc-kh-payakan-hawkp36 pack.

Plus, the 36Cs and 75As in the SC-KH pack deliver a much nicer punch. The 35As in the FDG2 pack are a tad anemic by comparison.

I'll use them all of course. The non-opening canopies aren't game enders by any stretch.

    Cheers,
    'MR

FS02/FS04 should still use the same animation key to open the canopy when the model is made so seems unlikely that the canopy animation was broke when it was converted to CFS2. I would try the spoiler key or concord nose key.

    EDIT:

In MCX the model has a canopy animation but seem to be broke in CFS2.

    Hiya Allen,

Thanks for the info and suggestions.

I had already tried all of the general AC commands you mentioned- and more. No joy.

So, WRT your EDIT: the canopies are DOA?

In the readme SC said that he and KH had really struggled trying to make this conversion work and that the pack was kind of a take it as it is deal. He didn't point to any thing specific that might be problematic. Guess the canopies were an issue.

    Cheers,
    NR

In Model Converter X the canopy animation is there but what is needed to be done to make it work in CFS2 is out of my understanding.

Well, Allen, if it is beyond your understanding then I can guaranty you it is quantum leaps further beyond mine!

I had the same concerns. However, I made a new panel I got from Goucho (ki-100) to use on all my P-36s. On the Fdg2 model I added the radio antenna from the Tuskegee p-51b/c, I think its from Jaxon? let me know if you are interested in my panel.

    Hi All,

Here is the canopy animation fixed. I will see what I can do about a VC view.

    Thanks MR,

Well here is one with a VC view. It is not very good though.
The interior view of the cockpit needs a lot of work.
I have not created a place to put gauges. Not sure if it is worth it.

Just a quck point of interest.

I may be proudly proclaiming that which to others has been yawningly obvious for ages, but here goes: when CFS2 comes across two AC with the exact same title in the AC.cfg file, it defaults to the folder name of one of the two planes in the "player Aircraft" drop-down list.

Hows that for an obscure bit of trivia? I did not know that.

    Cheers,
    MR

    maskrider:

The original Hawk_P-36.zip is an FS2002 model found at FlightSim.com. All versions are named Hawk_P-36. I am making some revisions to my panel (There is no panel in the original).L leaned heavily on CaptMercy for my panel. Captmercy seems to be very good with VC's. I will send you a copy as soon as possible.
