    Thanks UT!

BTW, I was googling around looking for some clearer pics of those hand-holds and stumbled across the Bristol Beaufort Mk.VIIIs and Mk.IX- sort of light transport aircraft built for the RAAF

    Cheers,

Schoolboy error with the MkII repaints, I needed to remove the exhaust collector ring from the front of the engine cowl, as with the P & W engines it was hidden at the rear of the engine...

Never mind, they are all done & the dp tweaking for each version is done too, along with sharpening up the VC & making the 2D Panel WIN7+ "compliant" along the way . Onto the DAP Mk VIIIs now & into the home stretch...

More lovely work. Thanks John. I'll have to re-read "Song of the Beauforts", a history of 100 squadron RAAF.

    Song of the Beauforts

    Thanks John,
A well written account of 100 squadron operations. Some years back I had the good fortune to hear Colin King give a talk at the Australian War Memorial on joint Australian/US attacks on Rabaul, followed by a close inspection of the Memorial's Beaufort Mk.8.

Great stuff. Thanks for this John. A very nice selection beautifully finished. I have a soft spot for "Let it go Hughie!". That generation of Australians would say this when it started to rain (particularly at the end of a dry spell).

Beauforts were also put to good use in the Mediterranean, particularly those based on Malta. "The Armed Rovers" gives a good account of their anti shipping missions and the part they played in cutting supplies to the Afrika Korps.

An interesting short film from the AWM collection. Apart from the Beauforts the P-40 fuselage roundel is of interest.

    Merlin2 Beaufort Mk9 revised UT.zip

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - British

Description: Merlin2 Bristol Beaufort Mk9 revised by UncleTgt

This is a revision of the Bristol Beaufort model series made by Merlin2 for CFS 2. This pack depicts the mk9. I used MDLmat & DosMDLCv2 to give the model some shine, better coloured aircrew lifevests, plus improve the glass transparency & colour, prop disks etc.

The 2D panel bitmap has been made WIN7+ safe, & the definition of the VC instruments has been improved.

The .dp file has been given historically accurate payload options, & the damage effects & hitpoints were tweaked to give a better combat experience. As the airfile was developed by Jerry Beckwith, the only thing I adjusted was to lower the elevator authority somewhat, to try to make it less fighter-like when engaged. I changed the aircraft family from 4 to 5 (more a G4M2 Betty than a TBF Avenger), but this has not been tested extensively in missions.

The sounds are aliased to the C47 Dakota.

The texture offered is: A9-712 "R" of 10 Local Air Supply Unit RAAF, Tokorina, Bougainville AUG45. Used in efforts to convince isolated pockets of Japanese to surrender.

To use the provided .dp file that depicts more historically authentic weapons and payloads, the following weapons packs are required...

Baldy Mk VII depth charge: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...tid=17&id=6687

    Shessi 250lb depth charge: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...id=17&id=22592

    Hudson weapons package: https://www.virtualwings.org/downloa...apons_v099.zip

Beaufighter weapons: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...tid=50&id=6860 (You don't need the aircraft, just the weapons)

    Dbolt Weapons v2.0a small http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...tid=17&id=6270

    FDG weapons: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...tid=17&id=5273

    Groundcrew British weapons: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...tid=17&id=4398

To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS2 install.

Thanks to: Merlin2 for the original multi-LOD Beaufort.

Kelticheart for his prop bitmaps & exhaust effects.

This is freeware and subject to the usual conditions.
