    Heinkel HE-100-D.zip

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category FSX Military Props

Description: Originally done for CFS2 and FS2002, this airplane has undergone quite a bit of reworking by several individuals, me included, in order to bring it to it's current state. My thanks to Michael Pook for his work in repairing the holes in the VC and his other updates to the airplane and his kind permission to upload.

Finally my thanks to Gerald Lindell (Warbirdlover) for his kind permission to move ahead with uploading his airplane.

This was Gerald's first attempt at modeling and it has certainly stood the test of time. Thank you Sir!

Thanks to all involved in bringing this plane to FSX. When I made my original post, all I was hoping for was a quick reference. I should have remembered what site this was, and how dedicated everyone is. Thank you all again.

I was flying around my native Niagara Falls and noticed the tachometer reading goes off the scale. I added 109 engine controls to the panel, but adjusting the prop pitch didn't make any difference on the rpms. I tried a different gauge but got the same result. I checked the max rpm in the Aircraft.cfg file and it was 2700. Indicated rpm displays over 3500 no matter what I do. Is this something built into the airfile? Is anyone else seeing this?

I went to the Luftwaffe Resource Center and looked up the engine specs for this bird. I edited my aircraft config file per there specs for the He100. Now my RPM seems normal. So try this file. Copy and paste. [piston_engine]

Thanks for the engine. This, I find much more believable, but now I'm wondering if the original config was meant to represent the prototype version mentioned in the Readme file. Still, these are going to be the engine values I use for at least the time being. Thank you for your interest and your quick response.

According to the Luft site there were only 25 made. So I guess you could call this a prototype.

In the readme which comes with the download, it says there was a prototype version that set a new world record of 464 mph. I'm now of the opinion this is probably a typo, because I can't find that high a speed anywhere else for the He-100. 464 sounds mighty high for 1939. That's more like a highly modified post-war racer.

It isn't a typo, this from a History of the HE-100 Prototype:

One aspect of the original Projekt 1035 was the intent to capture the absolute speed record for Heinkel and Germany. Both Messerschmitt and Heinkel vied for this record before the war. Messerschmitt ultimately won that battle with the first prototype of the Me 209, but the He 100 briefly held the record when Heinkel test pilot Hans Dieterle flew the eighth prototype to 746.606 km/h (463.919 mph) on 30 March 1939.

Thanks for the info. Perhaps these are the original engine values in the aircraft.cfg? I honestly wouldn't know. I do know that in FSX, they max out the tachometer and absolutely will not respond to prop pitch control at power, at least not so as I can see. I confess, I'm still a little surprised at the legs on this topic.
