Many CALCLASSIC PLanes are updated to be useP3D V4 up

    Dear All

To my great delight ( and many for others too ) Tom Gibson's CALCLASSIC has updated most of their planes and scenerys to FSX/P3D FSX Native

    Look here

    or at the planes here

    Best regards

    Roland

    BIG THANKS TO THEM

Thanks for posting this here as well, Roland.

I'll post my comments from over in the FSX forum here too, inasumch as they apply to the P3D users also:

You still need the legacy base packs that are listed.

What is new is native models, with both native exterior and its associated internal mdl and cfg files with which you then replace the original single FS9 mdl.

Not every single variation of every plane is available in FSX native form. The available FSX Connies at present are the 749 EAL and TWA models, and the 1649. A number of the C240 and C340s are done, as are the DC-7s.

Here’s the thread and download link for the 749s:

This is an ongoing set of conversion projects kindly being undertaken by Tom himself, so for a more broad view of what he’s working on, I’d suggest looking at this new FSX/P3D subforum he’s created over at the Calclassic boards:

    http://calclassic.proboards.com/board/7/classic-fsx-p3d

Needless to say, a huge thanks to Tom and the testers over there.
    I hope this helps.

PS - of unique consideration for those of us in P3D, the converted Connies have what is up to present, an unresolved model/texture issue. The cockpit windows, both looking out from the VC as well as looking at them from the outside views, render as invisible. Tom is aware of that, and has attempted to fix this but hasn't been able to thus far. I've also found the sunshade completely opaque also. Perhaps in time, these can be solved, but just wanted to give a heads up.

I'd say interested P3D users should pop over to the Calclassics FSX/P3D subforum and check out the goings on, as there's a whole more there for the classic 50s-60s period. With planes and traffic getting converted, scenery remains the big frontier to overcome. I know I'm going to bone up on the conversion process and see if some those classic jewels from FS9 can come to life once again in P3DV4.

Yes. They had VCs in FS9, they have them in FSX and P3D.

    DC-7C Install in P3Dv4

I must have done something wrong. I have the DC-7C base pack installed in my P3dv4\ simobjects\ aircraft folder. However when I ask to load "DC-7C", I get "no vehicle selected". Have the proper model and .air file (came with the base pack). This is a simple install with a native FSX aircraft. Suggestions? Bill

    Solved

Been entirely too long since I have dealt with these great aircraft. Of COURSE - I needed to also install the Dc-7 panel as well! Now if I can only find those missing sound files (smile)Sorry for my memory,Bill

Hi Bill, not sure if this is what's missing but might be worth a look.

Thank you Tom and Cal Classic!
