OT: Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site

Yesterday I got the chance to visit the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site as it happened to be right on the route I'm taking with the moving truck to Arizona. If any of you are ever traveling down I-85 through Alabama, it's only a couple miles off the interstate and we'll worth the visit. It located at Moton Field where the pilots went through the initial phases of flight training. Moton is still an active airport, and a number of the original buildings are still there and in use. I thought the museum was quite good and did justice to the story of these brave men. It also gave an excellent picture of what training was like for any pilot serving in the USAAF in WWII. A must see IMO if you are ever in the area.

Today my Wife is at Duxford to see the C47's fleet taking off and heading to Caen, it must be a fantastic thing to see, a once through the life experience! They seem to have some nice wheather there which is a good news because here in northern France it's heavy rain all day long.

We had two C-47s do a 10am flyover at the air museum today, but I wasn't able to get out to see them.

It's a shame, it's always nice to see these aircrafts flying, especially at this date.

My Wife said that yesterday, when the 22 C47's/DC3's started their engines all together, it was really impressive and very emotional, it must have been a fantastic experience.
