The Aussie VH-UOL looks interesting. Any guess, the colour of the fuselage?

....And the Japanese variant.....I'm surprised. I know that Avro sold Tutor + Variants to a lot of different countries, but I didn't remember Japan on the list. Very cool.

Ahhh....the answer comes with a little translation app:

"Somewhere in Japan 1934 ... Avro 621 Tutor , AZ model 1/72 - as for a photo. The plane purchased by the Japanese military mission after the Aviation Hall in Paris - where it made a sensation - for comparative purposes with Japanese machines and the possibility of license production by the Yokosuka plant. The contract did not come to fruition and the purchase of one machine, which went to one of the pilot schools, was broken up and scrapped."

    .....Huh. Even more cool, now.

I would hazard a guess depending on the type of film used and 'generic' colour schemes of the period, possibly blue or red fuselage with silver doped wings.
Dark blue would be my best guess.

    Awesome catches, Gentlemen

Have to agree the Japanese livery would be a superb addition to our hangars.
So would the 'Chinese' bird, but that one will have to wait its ride on the upcoming AVRO 626 Prefect.

I'd better get cracking with a paintkit to cover the 621, 621 Trainer, and 621 Tutor.
Designed from the outset for interchangeability, the only differing textures are for 621 vertical tail and cowl.

Yup! The blue gets my vote, too.

Avro didn't have many colours in their paint pots at that time (Air Ministry had more) Certainly silvered dope as a base, as that helped to prevent fabric deterioration from sunlight uv rays. I would say either dark blue, dark red, dark green or chocolate brown

I read somewhere it was dark red.

If the colours for VH-UOL can be determined, it would certainly be a worthy subject.
