    Restored P40F 1-CU 41-14112 44thFS/18thFG/13thAF 1942

A very rare bird indeed, and one that has undergone an extensive rebuild thanks to Judy Paye.
I believe there are few if any genuine Merlin powered Warhawks remaining.
And it is NOT for sale despite a number of enquiries.

Photographed after a relatively short demonstration flight....................no leaks or drips and she never missed a beat!

One of only two Merlin-powered P-40's flying in the world, both P-40F's - the other is owned/operated by The Fighter Collection at Duxford in the UK, which owed a lot to the work done by Judy Pay's team in reverse-engineering (a lot of 3d-scanning and 3d-modeling/CAD work) and scratch-building the unique cowlings required for both aircraft - the lower cowling having been the greatest challenge.

All of the currently operational/flying P-40's in the world (37):

    Australia: 4 (P-40E 41-25109, P-40F 42-14112, P-40N 42-104687, P-40N 42-104986)
    Canada: 1 (P-40N 42-104827)
    France: 1 (P-40N 42-105915)
    New Zealand: 2 (P-40E 41-25158, P-40N 42-104730)
    United Kingdom: 2 (P-40C 41-13357, P-40F 41-19841)
    United States: 27 (P-40B 41-13297, P-40C 41-13390, P-40C AK295, P-40E AK753, P-40E AK827, P-40E AK905, P-40E AK933, P-40E AK940, P-40E 41-5709, P-40E 41-35918, P-40K 42-9733, P-40K 42-10083, P-40K 42-10256, P-40M 43-5508, P-40M 43-5795, P-40M 43-5802, P-40M 43-5813, P-40N 42-104721 (*newest P-40 restoration, completed as a TP-40N), P-40N 42-104977, P-40N 42-105120, P-40N 42-105192, P-40N 42-105306, P-40N 42-105861, P-40N 42-105867 (*recently suffered gear collapse), P-40N 42-106396, P-40N 44-7369, TP-40N 44-47923)

There is another P-40F survivor, 41-14205, but it has been restored as a P-40E, on static display at the New Zealand AF Museum. The only other Merlin-powered variant is the P-40L, and there is an unrestored example, pulled out of the Meditteranean, displayed in Italy, serial no. 42-10857. There are quite a number more P-40's currently undergoing restoration to fly, but I'm not aware of any more Merlin-powered variants being among them.

    JT,
I've been extended an invitation by the crew at Tyabb to visit again and I will attempt to find exactly how much the 44th FS flight was recovered, four aircraft went down on this training flight and I think parts of all four were recovered, but I'd like to know more.
There is a stack of damaged and dented Warhawk parts that look ancient in one of the storage bays, can't hurt to ask a few questions.
