Whats up on the SOH? Server problems

Several times today I tried to open the SOH and gotten either internal error or 'server busy' errors. Is something happening? Maintenance? Attacks?

No, I just think everyone is trying to download Nigel's Avro project, installment 2, which was uploaded today.

Still, it would be nice to hear from an Admin. as to what is going on. It's highly unusual.

Screen load times still seem slow, and download time for Nigel's work is excessive.

Had nothing but trouble for a month+ when going to a second page would bump me out. Server not found message.

extremely high server loads. Over 100. We just rebooted it. Naturally this happens while I am working on a high priority issue and work and have over an hours drive to get home when I am done.

I got Part 1 of Nigel's Tutor. Took forever to download. Just went to download Part 2 and there is no file?? Did it get lost in the reboot??

There is nothing here to show you (no permission, all entries hidden, etc)

We've temporarily hid those downloads to see if that fixes the high server loads. Very popular downloads...

FS2004 parts 1 and 2 are available now. Will turn on the FSX ones will be available after we watch the server loads for a while.

Update.

We re-enabled the FSX downloads a few hours ago, and the server loads went somewhat non-linear again, so we turned them off again, for now.

We have adjusted the download bit rate limit (downwards) for all members, to see if this mitigates this problem. We will re-enable the FSX downloads for Nigel Richard's Tutor in the morning tomorrow.

It is nearly always difficult to get into the site early morning (GMT time) when all you fellows are tucked up in bed, so there must be other reasons......
