Welcome Dave...yes there is a learning curve but at least it is not as bad as with prior X-Plane.

Dont forget to set up axis's or buttons for aileron and rudder trim. It;ll make the experience a whole lot nicer.. also, if you use facebook, check for xplane groups.. Nice bunch of people hang out there and of course theres x-plane.org and XPilot where you can always find a ton of information.
