Thread: Me 262 free 3d model by Yksnawel

I would prefer the BeamNG version. There would be no main body uw-map rework needed. However its not ready for gMax, needs to manually select and reassign the materials / textures firts.

The main question is if to bother ever, yet to ask for permissions.

I have to note a scratch made new Me 262 external mode is a matter of days when free time and the rest is same dirty work. Same as the Arado 234 project, which still is waiting to replace the helijahs overhauled model with own one

I mean I would gladly give some initial support to someone who would interest to convert such airplane, but I personally would go the scratch made stuff way.

Cough, cough! Meaning the intention was to get within 1% of the real flight behaviour. I've never flown in a real warbird, far less in combat on the ragged edges of the flight envelope of one, but the flight modellers of AvHistory did make a serious, credible attempt at simulating it in CFS. Their results are still the gold standard in flight models for CFS3, especially the 4.x versions. Gregory Pierson especially knew a lot more about this than muddlers like me.

Oh man ! that's beautiful ! but how's the pit mate?

yeah, I have to say it looks pretty well. the original textures are mesh material layered (diffuse mask, opacity mask, specular mask, normal mask...) which is not supported native way in CFS3, but we have the Ankors to get similar results

the CFS3 final result depends on the level of approach - in Bravo/4 hands it would look excellent, I dare to say.

the "BeamNG" source lost some cockpit textures with the rare conversion, so the actual CFS3 result is unpublicable. however, the main mesh shape is good. there is too much fat dashboard panel, but nothing unifxable. the complex level of the interior mesh is similar to the original stock CFS3 variant, but contents a few more 3d details at side panels. all gauges needs to replace of course.

I really like the BeamNG model, if you would see how ist made, no polygonal wasting.
the skin is some space where could be weapon textures and so.

well, I could ask for permission the BeamNG team, that shoudlnt hurt... you know, just in case

btw, John, did you made some own skins for the stock Me 262?

Wow - Greg Pierson, that's a name I have not heard in a while. He was a great CFS3 person. He helped me learn a great deal about air files and what to do to make them 1%. Shared how to make seaplanes actually move in the water, how to get the tail lift correct, and dial in the engine parameters. He shared stories about CFS4 and the beta testing he did with that. He often said what a shame that it sits somewhere in Seattle just wasting away. The improvements over CFS3 were vast and all the things we dream about in CFS3 were unleashed in CFS4. I really hate Bill Gates.......

I tried to email him a while back but no go, have you heard from him?

    definitelly the BeamNG variant.
the CFS3 shots of the BeamNG rare conversion are a few pots back, check here.

will ground a new thread to do not mix the two model sources.

EDIT: a new thread made, related to the BeamNG model only here.

Not in years, Ted, I think Mathias was the last to work with him on FSX flight models.
