Very good looking there Falcon. I think that I will have to begin lying out of more GA airports.

    Yours look fantastic.

Thanks all, this will a be a slower developed airport. The restaurant set a high bar that requires that I pay as much attention to the rest of the airport. If anyone has photos of the main ramp and the hangars I could sure use those to get the realism cranked up a bit. I have done a lot of googling and unfortunately pilots are not as interested in getting shots of the hangars unless they happen to be behind their airplane, lol.

I have sent a request to the Airport Manager for any assistance he can provide and usually try to do so for most airports, but to be honest, aside from my local airports where I had free reign to take any photos I needed, I have never gotten any replies from my inquiries.

    A few WIP shots:

As expected I got no reply from the Airport so the hangars, their appearance, height, etc was gleaned from images taken in another county on a rainy day and then posted by someone on a side road who claims "I was there", lol. Everything I know about the airport did come from pics taken some distance away. Only the Restaurant and the TML hangar had closer pics.

After looking closer at the satellite image, I realized that there are houses on the other side of the Pond that house airplanes as well. I made a taxiway and parking spot at one of those so that should make for an interesting taxi experience through the tree shrouded taxiway, lol.

It does indeed Ed, and it's not easy to make your vegetation match and blend with the surrounding scenery, but you have mastered that bit very well.

Btw, what's the type of tree you are using? It looks very much like the one I need for my current project and going through the autogen descriptions I still haven't found it.

Using the "Vegetation Groupings" Window, The "Groupings" Tab not the Regionalizations:

    Chestnut 16-29m Mature
    Chestnut 8-14m Young
    Cottonwood 5-10m Young

    The majority being Chestnut Trees.

Wish someone there had answered my e-mail Vin. I sent it to the Restaurant because I couldn't find a good e-mail to the Arpt. Manager. The girl at the Restaurant was nice enough to pass it on. . .that was a week ago and nothing ever came of it.

Just sent him a pic to see if he shows any interest. To be honest, I get the feeling that most operators lack any interest at all in Flight Simulation. With all the inquiries I've made over the years I've had two respond. . .one from Geneseo who said he'd get back to me and never did and one unsolicited comment from the Manager at Plymouth, NH (1P1). He was actually on SOH and PM'd me to say it was a perfect representation of his airport. So basically two responses from a batch of probably 150 or more inquiries. lol

Actually, I sent him the pic from this thread that shows the vegetation in place. He answered almost immediately with several observations and corrections. I've since sent him close-ups of the hangars and Restaurant.

    Thanks Vin

This release will include Seasonal ground textures (Spring/Summer, Fall/Winter and Hard Winter), a Night texture, Ramp Lights (Thanks Fr Bill) that function in both FSX/Accel and P3D_V4.3. All textures were colorized to match as closely as possible the Orbx Basic ground textures. . .for those using default FSX ground textures, Spring/Summer and Hard Winter will be what most closely match your textures. Working with Bill (WND uses default textures) to try to get a decent match for Fall/Winter I found there wasn't enough brown in my pallet to get it to match, it simply ends up looking like a brown-ish satellite image laying on top of a "browner" carpet of brown.

If you have the ability, and don't care for the differences seen between the satellite ground texture (photoreal ground texture) and your default textures the only recommendation is to remove the "photo01.bgl" and use ADE to add an irregularly shaped Airport Background. It would look better IMHO and change as the seasons change. It would however, remove any trees I placed with the Annotator (you could delete the "agn files" in the texture folder). Just a recommendation. I forget that many users still have default textures. . .I've had Orbx for so long now it's become my "default". Anyway, I'll leave that decision to the individual.

Waiting to see if I hear from the guy at Cherry Ridge again tomorrow, but if not then I will package it up and post it to the SOH Downloads area. It will be a sizable download.
