    Good morning,

Tomorrow is testing day at the Mayo Clinic...blood work, followed by an electrocardiogram, followed by an ultrasound, followed by a CT scan, followed by a bandage change.

All that's missing is me putting on tap shoes and doing a dance number.

    Rami,

My cousin had the same procedure you're looking at a few years ago and he's doing fine now. Also, he much older than you, so you have that going for you. I'm a heart event survivor myself and I now firmly believe it's better to find these things out, and do it as early as possible. Not to cover you in butter, but your campaigns were a great help to me in getting out of my own head. You get well soon. I'm sure everyone here is rooting for you.

    Hi,

Surgery is on for tomorrow, I report to the Saint Mary’s campus at 6am. That’s the good news.

The not-so-good news is what they can do tomorrow morning may be limited by what they find when they dive in. My venous system is really messed up, and after they do the venous angioplasty, they may be able to put the stents in tomorrow, or they may have to wait three months and see how the veins are holding up after the angioplasty to see if the flow increases.

They may end up having to put in stents from both thighs up almost to my heart.

Either way, I’ll be back to experience Minnesota in January.

    Hi,

I made it through...they did the venous angioplasty with the balloons sussessfully, dialating my system to 16mm. The question now is whether it holds. If it holds into January, they should be able to put in stents.

Back at the hotel now, going to crash.

Rest well my friend. The body has been stressed out for a LONG time. Sounds like they were able to do what they had hoped to do.

As you might remember I am retired since I was about 60... from the practice of anesthesia...
I didn't want to mention anything to scare you... but now that you got through the worst
part of it (the beginning)... let me tell you... you got some serious problems ahead...
The IVC (inferior vena cava) is normally about a good 3-5 cm in diameter.... if they
dilated it to 16 mm... you probably had industrial strength atherosclerosis...
you need to really follow through... lose weight... eat sensibly... and do everything they
    advise you!!!!
Forza Rami! and my very best wishes...

    Gaucho_59,

It was in my veins, not my arteries. And I am going to be doing a lot more walking.

Yes I now... the IVC is a a vein... a large one at that...
atherosclerosis is the build up of plaque... anywhere... arterio sclerosis is hardening of the arteries... due to plaque too..
Anyway.... lots of of walking but start very slow... and watch that diet...

    Bad news

Rami reports via facebook that he is "having complications" and "not doing well." All I know is he was having an uncontrolable nosebleed last night and early today. I have no other symptoms or info to report. He asked me to inform you all and I am calling for your continued prayers.
