    Good morning,

First, thanks for all the support!

Second, I heard back from Hold the Mayo Clinic on this past Friday.

The preliminary scheduling suggestion was for October, I told them that puts me in a real tight spot. At that point, the fall semester really picks up with observation hours and other assignments, along with work. I suggested a block between December 21st and January 14th, which would be my break between semesters.

I told them that if it needs to be sooner that we can do it in October; I still have the ability to scuttle the fall semester if need be.

When they call me back, I will update further. That's all I know right now.

I'm a certified sub here in FL and would help you out, but I'm sure MA has a butt-load of subs looking for a long-term assignment that would fill a semester for you.

Besides, my basketball team and program is beginning to pay dividends, so heart of my Varsity season........winter instead of fall temps.....

I'll stick with Florida and praying for your surgery and quick recovery.

    Rami...........

..I don't want to pontificate but consider your own physical, and family, options first. That should be your first priority. The school administrators might have to do what they are supposed to do and that is administrate. Actually make some decisions on coverage.

If you delay too long there could be physiological changes that might change the equation on your getting the treatment and in might not be in your favor. Keep in mind that original story of my late brother in law (RIP) and what happened to him. His turned for the better yours might not.

Also, with today's political climate and constantly changing medical coverage what is covered now , in a pen stroke, might not be covered tomorrow. Happened to me and cost a wee bit of money.

In that old saying " Don't put off to tomorrow what you can do today"

    Fibber,

Over the last couple of days, with prayer and reflection, I have come to the same conclusion, based on many of the reasons you laid out. Not to worry, my friend.

    Good morning,

The date for the surgery is October 18th, provided that the required testing goes well on the 16th and 17th of October.

    Rami.....

..good luck and best wishes for you. Just hold the line and don't get queasy as the day comes near.
May sound silly but I had one well known surgeon relate to me how some people get all putty the day before and cancel their operations. Some hospitals now even make you responsible for the costs if you chicken out within a beforehand time period .

Good luck and good outcome. Be leery of the surgeon that says "Ooops" too often or better yet " Gee, I've NEVER seen that before"!

    Fibber,

I've come this far...no turning back; when you've lived with this for sixteen-plus years, you know when enough is enough.

    No Dice,

I leave October 14th. As far as me being committed, I'm still battling tooth-and-nail, but I can hear my wife making phone calls!

    Thanks for asking.
