    Icon22 Will be away...July 14th - 30th, 2019...

    Good evening,

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be embarking on Mayo III very soon. I fly out to MSP on the morning of 14 July, with testing scheduled for 17 July and the surgery on 18 July. I will be staying in the Minneapolis-Western Wisconsin area until July 30th, when I will be returning home, except for a weekend at Germanfest in Milwaukee.

I will be in the area around the time of the OshKosh EAA airshow, but at this time I have not made definite plans to visit, because it will depend on what type of surgery they do. But the possibly of attending, even for a day, has not been ruled out entirely.

Hope you feel well enough to go to the EAA show in Oshkosh. Long way from S.E. Texas for me but always wanted to go. Had a trip planned years ago with another guy -- my wife is not an A/C enthusiast-- but he cancelled on me and I never made the trip.
What great experience for you if you can.

    Good morning,

Thanks for all of the well-wishes! I will of course be in touch. Most of the time I will be on vacation, or "holiday," it's only about three days I'll be in Rochester either at Hold the Mayo or recovering post-surgery.

    Hello,

Our cruising altitude is 37,250ft, and our ground speed is about 415mph.

About 2hr, 26min to landing. I need that 4x flightsim feature!

They are the only facility in the country that does this procedure, and according to them, they do this type of operation "all the time," which is mind-blowing to me. They also think they can "de-clot" and fix some of the main veins that are currently blocked. Most of the people who have had this surgery successfully are about my age, and since I do not have either heart disease or diabetes, I may be an ideal candidate.

If it works, I will be much more comfortable, have greater venous flow, more duration on my feet, be far less prone to skin ulcers, and I won't have to teach from a wheelchair anymore!

The information was sent out on Friday, so I am hoping to hear this week. If they do want me to come out for the surgery, I will let everyone know. Even if this particular type of operation doesn't work in my case, the fact they have advanced this far means that there will likely be a way to help me in the near future.
Lots of luck Rami.... I'm sure you will see improvement if not a total cure...
    Carlos
