A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category FS 2004 Military skins - Cold War

Description: Four skins for Kazunori Ito's North American P/F-82B Twin Mustang day fighter:

"Betty Jo," an early model P-82B, flew 4,968 miles on February 28th 1947, setting a non-stop fighter flying record. It was piloted by Lt. Col. Robert Thacker who was the senior pilot, flying a course from Honolulu to New York City, and averaged almost 342 mph, completing the trip in less than fifteen hours. "Betty Jo" was retired to the Air Force Museum, where she was repainted twice in her record flight livery, once in correct pre-USAF Army Air Forces P-82 markings and once in incorrect USAF F-82 markings.

NACA: The re-designated F-82B "Betty Jo" was bailed to the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics' facility at Cleveland, Ohio from 1947 to 1957 before being retired to the Air Force Museum.

An F-82E of the 523rd Fighter Escort Squadron, 27th Fighter Escort Wing, 8th Air Force, Strategic Air Command, based at Kearney Field, Nebraska in 1948.

An F-82H of the 449th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. The F-82H was an F-82G night fighter that had its radar pod removed for use in the day fighter and ground attack role.

Ito's original model was both reflective and glossy, and the gloss spoiled the look of reflective textures. Included here is a model with the specular gloss removed to make the reflective textures look metallic, as they should.

Skins by Mick, based on Kazunori Ito's original texture files. The spinning prop texture is by Banana Bob.
