Have you thought about using decals* to do that? I did it on the Victorious and it saves on textures quite a bit.
*ie a transparent texture with the numbers on.

Good choice!
Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.
That's fantastic....we'll soon have all the CVA's necessary to recreate Operation Flaming Dart.

Still working in the air wing for the USS HANCOCK
The texture USS HANCOCK´s air wing is ended
For the Lexinton, only the TA-4J remains pending
Yup, just like I remembered it long ago when I was there. Looking good .
Looks great CIMOGT,nice work so far.
The air wing for the USS LEXINGTON are complete
I just picked up the Essex Class carriers!
They are now payware at 30 euros a throw at Simmarket.
Cheers Chris
Not clear if it is a set of Essex carriers (e.g. Hancock) or just the Bonnie Dick?

According to the Simmarket description the package includes Bonnie Dick, Hancock, and Lexington.

thank you all for your comments and information shared in this post
CIMOGT
Walter, very nice!
One item i am finding a problem with. At night, the F-8 changes to a "glowing" version, using VF-84 livery.
This is for Hancock and Bonnie Dick (havent yet checked Lex).
I noted that there is a "F8_CRUS_NIGHTS DDS" file in the texture file, that seems to make every Crusader a ghostly Jolly Roger at night.
Is there a reasoning for that? Seems quite odd.
Otherwise, your efforts are quite awesome!
Thanks.
Deke
