Hi Folks,
Just sharing a couple of ongoing projects, to get the creative juices going!

I think it was MotorMouse and Nigel who said in a post they'd like to see a Stranraer in Fs9, I had to agree, been thinking about it for a while. Went hunting and the only one (except for a v.high vertices-ed but beautiful and 3D free model), and found one in the IL-2 sim. Had words and now I've started to port it in from the IL-2 model, no VC model (yet), but a good place to start, lots and lots to do, but coming along nicely!

Intention to do CC, RCAF and civilian models.

I enjoy watching the development of a new model, almost as much as I do flying the finished product. It helps me realize the work involved in creating such things, and makes me appreciate the effort involved.

The Stranraer has some very complex detailing, looking forward to seeing what you can do with her, Shessi. Looks to be an interesting project.

Well if this is what happens when I discuss missing aeroplanes with Nigel, just might have to mention a few more.... but seriously big thanks, this will fill a gap in early WW2 aeroplanes.

The Canadians flew them as well, after the war, didn't they. I believe the RAF museum example came from Canada.
I didn't know they existed, until I built the Matchbox model back in the 70's - an imposing plane - not as imposing as a Short Singapore, but still imposing.

They were gone just before my time, but I can remember the older fellas talking about the QCA Stranraers with a smiling whimsy.

I grew up with Goose, Mallard, Catalina's, and the occasional Mars.....would have loved to see a Stranraer boat in active service. (!)

Many decades ago I met a former RAF officer who joined up in 1938 and flew with Coastal Command, eventually moving on to a Special Duties unit later in the war, at one point flying support for the Poles in the Warsaw Uprising.
Luckily for me he allowed me to take copies of his pre-war photo album.
Somewhere in a long forgotten box I have Maynard's photos, including a number of Stranraer shots.
I'm about to look for them, if I can eventually find these ancient B&W images I'll upload them.

Bear in mind these were shot around 80(!!!) years ago, probably with a Box Brownie, and copied roughly 45 years ago.
But they might be useful.

Awww..fantastic! Love 'em. Great to see such clarity of pic, and that they've not been publicly seen before. Yes, helpful, and nice the Singapore as well..so many thanks for taking the time to share W.

Interesting as the Stranraers are from 209 Sqn RAF at Invergordon, Stranraer or possibly Oban.

Here's a pic of Singapore M K8567, seen in your pics at possibly a public open day at RAF Felixstowe (the skyline does looks familiar), but later at Arzew, Algeria 1937.

Yes, Jens has done some very nice flying boats. That is a MkI Singapore, the pics and what W was wondering about is a MkIII. Baldy did a 'quick and easy one' for CFS2, but it would be good to have a detailed one.....
