    Let-410

To be specific, the Pannon Wings Design Team LET-410. Has anyone ever taken the time to figure a way to get the left and right VC panels to show on this beauty? I've done a down and dirty fix by making the placeholder the same color as the panels, but of course it extends well below where the panel should end. No biggie for me because it's a great airplane. . .just wondering if, over the years, anyone has looked into why they don't show and how to correct it.

    Thanks

Interesting. . .I'm testing now. The mdl date on your version is different from the one I downloaded from flightsim.com

    Nope basically the same problem:

    This requires a brief explanation:
In the previous shot I simply took the mdl and air files from the download you suggested and used them to overwrite my current airplane. I also made the necessary changes in the aircraft.cfg file to reflect the change in the mdl file name and airfile names. When loaded that's what the result was for the above image. . .basically no difference.

This image below is the download from the link you suggested without any changes done to it at all. . .better for sure, but instead of the panels missing, now the background is missing.

This is the one with the solid nose, right? Not the glass nose (glasnost -- sorry, couldn't resist)?

Any alpha layers in use here?

I'm sorry Ed. I didn't even notice the empty space.

lol, I enjoyed that one, lol
The original download I got off flightsim.com has solid black alphas on every single texture, the VC was non-existent, lol After correcting all those I converted everything to "dds". the interior VC was back to normal, but the left and right panels were missing so I just changed the placeholder color to fill the void. Not ideal but at least I wasn't looking out through that glass nose, lol.

Brian apparently has a version that doesn't show that problem, but even when I loaded his, you can see there is still a texture that's not working as it should.

I'm wondering if the problem resides with the panel textures. When you duck down below the panel the edges look bad.

I'm making some headway. I loaded the mdl file into MCX and opened the "material editor". From there I "checked" "Highlight Selected". That way as I click through the various colors and textures I can see what corresponds to that empty area.

    The first pic shows the empty area in the VC behind the panels showing as red, which indicates that I've clicked on the color that is supposed to be there;

This next pic shows the information from the material editor for that color. I should be able to change that with MDLMat, but thus far I haven't had much luck. Still, there's every reason to believe that something with that color is the cause of what we see in the VC.

Now i would build a bitmap 512x512 for example, in the RGB colour 64,64,64 and replace the colour FF000000 with this Bitmap at Diffuse texture, witch i named to colour646464.bmp
    for example.

That can't be done in MCX. . .it would require that once I exchange the colors I'd have to saved back to the mdl file. . .if done in MCX it would render the mdl useless wouldn't it?

You can replace a colour with an bitmap with MCX, but you have to compile the mdl file to an new one.
I have only the FSX and P3D4 SDK installed, so i don't know if you can compile
a new FS2004 model with this changes.
I use sometimes this variant, to replace coloures with glass textures, when i convert
    FS2004 models to native FSX.

The result from an quick test, the holes are gone.
Converted to FSX native, only for testing, without the whole process.

Well, in that case I will attempt to contact the only person still around that was part of the Design Team for Pannon Wings (Tibor Kokai). I have an e-mail address and maybe I'll be lucky enough that he will answer and even luckier if I can get permission to convert the 410 to native FSX. If I'm successful, would you be interested in taking it on?

I would be interested, but I still have also to finish a few other things.
If it's not hurry, I would be available.

Terrific! No hurry at all, but first the technicalities must be taken care of. I'll let you know if I hear anything back from Tibor!

A temporary fix for anyone using this airplane and has the same problem as shown in Post #4 above:

I discovered that the panels come from the panel folder, not the texture folders and are 24bit. The backgrounds are solid black (0,0,0) which renders them transparent. Changing the background ever so slightly (5,5,5) closes the open areas. So if anyone wants to give this a try (make backups of your L,R and Ctr panels), here's a zipfile with the three panels. Unzip and drop them in your panel folder to overwrite the existing files. That should fix it.

You're welcome. Not the ideal situation (a Native FSX conversion would be the ticket), but for now it at least fills the gaps. I have sent an e-mail to Tibor and it's only been a few days so for now I'm just hoping that he's still around and will answer eventually.

This morning I received an email from Timor. He has given me permission to go ahead with the conversion of the 410 to native FSX. It will not happen right away, but at least we have the official “OK”.Thank you Tibor!!

This is, indeed, great news! The Let 410 has been a favorite of mine from back in the FS9 days. The textures you shared (in addition to a possible conversion) allow me to enjoy it once again. Thanks much, Ed!

Indeed it is Brian. I have been doing updates to the interior a bit at a time. . .increasing the resolution and converting the Russian Overhead panel to English. I've also done a "what if" livery for United Airlines, which came out every well. Something different for me to kick around in the clouds with.

Brilliant work already!! Great to see her moving ahead. Thank you for your assistance and your expertise. I wish I had the ability to do this myself. . .I am envious of the talent it takes to pull these conversions off.
