    Beautiful Places

Looking over the two threads on things that fly and things that don't gave me the idea to start this thread. I call it Beautiful Places. There are many beautiful places in this world of ours, and some above. So, this thread is to allow us to post beautiful places we have visited, live near, or seen through the lenses of our cameras. The only rule is that we have taken the photo we post. I will start with two from the US. One is from the Grand Tetons National Park and the other from the The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I hope you enjoy them.

I love the reflections in the top photo. The golden light is beautiful. I never even knew the island of Madeira existed, so I learned something. Thanks! Lastly, no hunting camp in Louisiana looks like that lodge. Nice pictures.

That is nice. I like how the Fall colors go with the brick.

I've always loved Victorian and Edwardian architecture so this grand old house is high on my list of 'Beautiful Places'.
Coolart House is set a few kilometres back from Westernport Bay in the middle of vineyards and horse studs.
As it is open to the public I try to visit mid week to avoid the unwashed masses!
Time I went back and shot some more detail images.

A few weeks ago, during our recent heat wave, I decided to get up early and take my camera to the park to photograph the sunset. Interesting to see almost fall colours due to the drought in mid summer!

I love the pictures of the Fall foliage and trees. Question, what is the little country cottage called?

It is called Slot Zeist, built in the seventeenth century for a member of the Dutch royal family. The gardens around it were inspired by Versailles apparently. It's a good place for a nice walk, as I live just around the corner.

Could never compete with Ferry's skill with a camera, but here's my local hunting lodge, built for the Earls of Fife in the 13th century and restored and made into a palace by James IV in the early 1500's.
It is a couple of miles from me and is called Falkland Palace...(One of the very few places you will find a Real Tennis court)

Not exactly a conventional beautiful place but the old Point Nepean 19th century Quarantine Station is lovingly preserved and very photogenic.

    The Garrison barracks.

All the Peninsula Vineyards are coming on line.
Great subjects if you can get them through Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Personally, I prefer the view of a vineyard through a glass full of its product ! (what grapes are these ??)

    Pinot Noir.
A long time favourite with us.

This lot are Chardonnay, most varieties grown are relatively cool temperature vines.

When I travel on the bike I keep a small digital handy, sometimes literally hanging on my wrist. This is one of those occasions where light and weather came together. Wish I would have had the good camera with me, but the moment was not entirely wasted.

I simply can't carry anything on my favourite bike except for maps and my phone.
My course of action if something looks interesting is a couple of phone snaps and a notation on the map.
