Thanks, Richard. Interesting website. I'm looking for authentic C-45 interior shots in color, because I might want to change the interior and cockpit colors, too. Army or Air Force version didn't have these lush leather seats and stuff.

    Cheers,

    Navy Too

I am sure that the other services did not have lush leather seats either unless it was a general/admiral staff transport aircraft which there were some.

Just finished my morning's work and very pleased it all worked praise the Lord. I found out that what I learned in kindergarten was applicable here: stay inside the lines when you color and it will flood well. Made it twice as quick to complete. All the yellow is done. After lunch I am going to tackle the gray.

    Phase 3-Afternoon Work

Here are two shots of my work after lunch today and I feel like I am learning every moment. Toughest part was getting a white top kept wanting to be gray when the color layer from normal was applied no matter what I did but I figured it out-fill with a reduced opacity to show the details below.

Looking good. Thanks for doing this.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try,try again. ... or go read the manual.

Here's a grey (Army / Air Force) version of the instrument and switch panels, and everything else that was green before. Also leather is a tad darker.

    +1

Is there a way to hide the anachronistic GPS ? I tried to comment out the gauge in the panel, but the underlying background shows ... a GPS

    Thanks - Gérard

    USAAF/USAF Panel

Can you put the panel in the aircraft dropbox folder? I would like to install it in my repaint. Thanks

    Richard

It's not done yet, I have to adapt the night mask and I'm also trying to get rid of the GPS. I'm also having a slight problem with a misaligned alpha mask, which was crushed to 2048 by DXTBMP.
But as soon as it is ready I can give you a notice.

Hmm, maybe I could make military style non carpet wall panels while I'm at it.

The passenger compartment is a bit hindered by the very good 3d models of the of the luxury seats, but could also be made in a more spartan military look. Did you guys notice that you can have a seat and extend the folding table between the seats? I love the attention to details in that model, Carenado did a very good job here. My hat's off!

    Found These Interior Shots

Questmaster Museum restorers of D18s had these on their website. Does this help Mark?

    After Pulling My Hair Out

Well, after much open FSX close FSX look agains...here is my U.S. Army C45F (Hamilton Standard Propellers) finally. I took a little liberty with my repaint to be I think more authentic markings.

I will upload it to the Library in a little while.

    Hi,

the cockpit images above are of a real old one, we won't be able to replicate that, unfortunately. They didn't have panels covering the roof in them. I found a lot of good images from around the sixties that are do-able. I was looking for Air America aircraft, and found that most D18s used by them were ex service C-45s. There were some that had grey interior with a grey instrument panel, and some had a black instrument panel. Doing both is very easy, once the PSD is set up..

    See

Shows ya how much I KNOW! LOL!!! I am trying to make military pilots instead of the civilian ones. In my Carenado C208B they have a pilot for the Brazilian Air Force and also the UAE pilot in military jackets I am going to try and work with. I have some stuff in the works and will share that with ya all here.

    Pilots

With the model the way its been designed, even though there are six files that relate to pilots and if they would have used one of the other ones we could have substituted the pilots from the Cessna Grand Caravan Carenado did or even their T34 Mentor pilots but they created a new file with both pilots in it called PILOTS and if you open it up, to me it looks like a jigsaw puzzle. I send a support request to Carenado but their reply was that they do not assist any modifications to their aircraft to check the forums but there is nothing in the forums because this is a new aircraft and I don't remember ever seeing this PILOTS file and I have quite a number of their aircraft. Disappointing to me but not the end of the world. Unless you zoom in very closely on the cockpit from outside you can't tell what the pilots are wearing.

    Military Pilots

Just got a reply back from Carenado Support that they will put my suggestion for military pilots in the D18S as a future modification and will send notification (to all those who own it) when it is implemented by them. See, it pays to complain sometimes even though it's a little thing.

    ROFL

I just noticed that someone mounted the Yokes upside down, either on the museum version above or the real flying thing in the video. I'd suppose that the real one is the right way.

I've seen real world Beech 18s with the oval on the top or bottom. I don't remember if it had to do with model or preference. Too long ago.

Check on the Beech Restoration Site I posted above and ask the question. I would almost guarantee that they will have the answer to this which is very interesting.

OK, the day textures are done, also for the cabin in Air America colors. I pretend it's a VIP transport :-)
