Cirrus, could that large area of gauges that didn't do much, have been your engine related gauges. That seems to be what's missing from what I can see of the remaining gauges.

I think that using the spot currently occupied by a non-functioning autopilot for some modern avionics is a good idea.
My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

Just make it a popup, sizeable window panel - seems like a more flexible and easy option. You can us one of the generic FS9/FSX GPS' of your choice. I do it all the time.

I don't have F1 Garmin but if there are a easy way to add the default panels same as they did with MAAM's here, I will be happy

when you have a Big Area with Gauges which don't do anything its a Good time to Replace with something you can use Daily

Yes is good improvement for a not working Gauges also I like to fly with easy full autopilot and map moving or GPS in the VC cockpit, if there are a way to add a Carenado glass cockpit I will like more :-D

Why dont you just use the V2 which had all the glass stuff already fitted. I have kept that one going for specialist C-47's such as the Basler, Buffalo etc. Makes a nice change for modern electronics. Flies just as well.

I was going to suggest that myself. Mixed feelings on this debate - on the one hand, I'm in favor of adding modern avionics (I also like antibiotics and general anesthesia - my nostalgia for the good old days is tempered by the casualty rate). On the other hand, the Garmin doesn't look quite right in the vintage VC, if only because someone going to the trouble of adding a Garmin would probably also make a few other changes. In all, the more modern V2 VC is a better match.

I sometimes find myself hoping that someday, there'll be a V3-quality version with a contemporary flight deck along the lines of Robert Randazzo's Tabitha May. But given the amount of work involved, that's asking a lot of a freeware project - something like that would probably have to come from the likes of PMDG or A2A or some equivalent payware newcomer. For the Manfred/Jan aircraft, I'd settle for a DC-3 exterior model at some point - but even that feels like a luxury request.

@Cirrus - if you're looking for Jan, you'll find him over on the Sim Outhouse P3D forum, where he's the moderator. Forum handle = "Javis". Can't hurt to ask.

    Why not ....

Hmm this got me thinking and dabbling ... might be nice to have the option of adding the modern cockpit including annunciator panel, 3d dual GPS, sanitizer box, etc to the 3.14 version and its interactive checklist, cockpit chatter, Monitor, FDE, etc. Once at it the C-117 could get the same treatment. Let's see where this goes, any rate here is a first attempt:

Oh the C-117 with all the bells and whistles would be a godsend!

Manfred, that's a really intriguing solution. I'd be all in for a modern VC option to use alongside the vintage one where appropriate (or when the mood strikes). The C-117 would be icing on the cake. Looking forward to seeing this come off.

EDIT: And of course, happy to join in testing whenever you need it.

Great, thanks Alan, see you in the VVC forum. Give me a few days. Have just added altitude callouts...

Hello everyone, would it be possible to know if one day we can fly with the DC3 autopilot that is currently inoperative?

I think this C-47 is the best FS plane I ever had, including dozens of payware, etc. Some day, I hope there is a pure DC-3 (no bubble, cargo doors, etc) that you produce. The VC is awesome, and is better than even the Captain Sim 707/727, which is really saying something.
