This is the Russian AWACS. Derived from the IL-76. Wish there were more eastern military aircraft. Freeware at the .org

Wonder if the engine sound is authentic? It's weird! Basic 3d cockpit with labels in Russian.

The engine sound is authentic - there was a comment on it on the previous Ilyushin IL-76 release - plenty of youtube videos will confirm this...

    Basic 3D cockpit ?
I thought I recently saw some screenshots of a very nice IL-76 VC on the org... or I am confusing with another model ?

Basic to me as I can’t read Russian. Basic is I use my joy stick buttons for everything as I cant read any control labels.

    A Few Over Washington

"Try to stay in the middle of the air. Do not go near the edges of it. The edges of the air can be recognized by the appearance of ground, buildings, sea, trees and interstellar space. It is much more difficult to fly there".

    Thanks.

Yes you're correct, that's True Earth. Other addons are just Khamsin B-17, Ultra Weather XP and X Vision.

    Really nice shots indeed
I'm almost ready to push the trigger on XVision... although it's already a few weeks/months that I say this :P
How complex is it to install ?
Does it work in VR ?

It's very easy to install. It just has an installer which installs the program in to X-Plane. Then it just operates very similarly to PTA. You can download and run preset profiles made by others just like PTA, or you can play with the adjustments yourself. If you use Ultra Weather XP too, then you can just disable some features in one or the other because X Vision and UWXP do have some overlap concerning the features they adjust, such as clouds. I can't recall exactly, but I think I just disabled the cloud settings in X Vision, and I find that the two run very well together.

I should say that the profile I am currently using for X Vision, and like very much, is one by Renault on the ORBX forum, called "Natural Colour by Renault v1.0.0".

    A6M Zero

For all you WWII types out there. The Zero available from the latest issue of PC Pilot or on the mags website

The Potez 25 might just be the best biplane for XP. Surprisingly fast for a bag of strings, wood and canvas as well (220 kph+).

And the Edge 540 is just silly fun.

Yes, the edge is great fun. Not an aerobatic fan at all but this plane is just so much fun to fly. Snap rolls, spins, et al are easily accomplished. The author did a great job on this. Interior could use a bit more resolution but the externals are outstanding.

I think it's the same model that can be found on the .org library.
Altough the VC is really beautiful, the external model seems like it has some proportion problems. It's mainly about the canopy: doesn't it look like it's a bit stretched vertically ?

    Yes, but:
    a) you're supposed to be in the cockpit
    b) it's freeware

    Headng for Hood

On a practice flight for a 1000mile glider flight down the west coast of the USA using Orbx scenery. This flight I soared the length of Orbx TE Washington just under 440 km in the '29. Aerotow from Riverside (4WA8) onto the local ridge - up to the Canadian border just north of Silver Lake then to Gabel landing strip in Oregon via climbing to the top of Mt Baker, Glacier Peak, Mt Rainer, Mt Adams, Mt Hood. 20 knots WNW wind 4-5knot thermals to 10000ft about 10% coverage - but mostly ridge/mountain soared -took about 4 hours.

Installed me some Orthos and X-Europe and flew from Berlin to Peenemünde.

It's quite fascinating when everything is just...there.

    And I still love 11.50.

If only default X_Plane looked that good.
