    Resuming work at the workshop

    Hi,

After the Ni-D62 Blender learning project I needed to take a step back from modeling to go about other things like playing DTG Train Simulator (lol) !
But today I'm going back to work. I picked up some pending projects, mostly the MS 225/226 and a new one the Dewoitine D500/501 later the D-510.
Now I'm getting more comfortable with Blender and I'm trying to create more detailed models. It takes time but it is a hobby and time does not matter. The eventual publication of this has no planned date(but my modeling choices, the French aviation of the 30s, quickly leads these models to the virtual shed where they will take the dust just as virtual)(lol) !

Below are some screens showing the progress of the projects. Also shown some parts, Gnome-Rhône K9 engine and Vickers-Mac type 2 machine guns (MAC stand for Manufacture d'Armes de Châtellerault)

    The Morane Saulnier MS-225/226(Navy version)

    Some parts

    The latest project Dewoitine D500/501

The gauges, the instrumentation (all in 3D), the cockpit will conform to the real models as far as possible (no DLL, my limited skills and my documentation pretty good - thank's Huub Wink and others)
Eventually, to get your opinion I will communicate on the work !

    Cheers,
    JMC

Oops ...I would like it to be finished already. I did not dare to face this realization which is more complicated than it looks.
Emile Dewoitine's productions are the most innovative of the time in France. The D500 was released the same year as the Boeing P26 Peashooter.

    Hi,

The Dewoitine D-501 is on top of my todo list ...slow progress ...

but ...i do my best! I am not sure for the wood propeller, i am looking for a profile of a steel one (Levasseur).

Really more difficult than it seemed....to me!
Some rectified modeling errors, I think I'm not too far from something satisfactory.

The D500 with 2 Vickers-MAC machine guns firing through the propeller,

and the 501 the first plane with the French Hispano Suiza (see note below) gun engine(moteur canon).

The 510 will be realized also with different tail, landing gear and propeller.
it is only the exterior model for now!

Note : "Société Française Hispano-Suiza" ,specialized in aeronautical equipment, born as a subsidiary of the Swiss-Spanish company of the same name became considerably larger than the parent company from which it separated shortly after WWI. The French company retaining the right to use Hispano-Suiza as trademark. She belongs today to the French group Safran.

    Hi,

I was wrong with the engine cooler! my blueprint had an error of scale.I did certainly a mistake including the pictures in Blender. I think it seems to be okay now.

I move slowly, I do the cockpit. The 3D instruments are complete even if they are presented here with raw textures.

    Cheers,
    JMC

Interesting wing on the D.500: was the different section at the wing root to stall earlier than the rest of the wing giving the pilot warning of an impending full stall?

    Hello,
Thank's for the interest in this model. I feel very clumsy but I do my best. No idea about the benefits of this wing feature, I was thinking about a visibility problem.

    Hi,

    Small progress...trying textures...

    Quite difficult for me...

Not much interest for this French model but it advances a little and maybe I'll publish it. May be! (lol)

I am still working on metal textures.

    Hey Gaston,

It seems I have missed your update during my absence. I really like the shape of this Dewoitine , but I wonder whether they were as highly polished as your version

    Cheers,
    Huub

    Hi Huub!

You are probably right, texturing is not my cup of tea as we say in France.
I am trying to represent a D 501 of squadron II/5 Lafayette at the 1937 Zurich meeting. I guess she was very prepared to be smart (lol)!

I will give those who want it the UV mapping for the fuselage and wings to make other more relevant paintings.(2048 or 4096).

Now, she looks as those screens :

But, today it's a long way until she is avalaible.

    Now, she can fly!

    Hi,
After working on more realistic textures, I can say "this is the end of the beginning" ....I think someone already said that (lol) !

Big work to achieve....but some screens :

the first version still scheduled for the end of the year if ...

    JMC

    PS : I missed this one !

Although there might still be a lot of work to do, I think it already looks gorgeous. And again this is one of the aircraft I never expected to see in FSX.

    Cheers,
    Huub
