I'm afraid that when I get home from work in a couple days, I'm going to unapologetically spam this thread with screenshots. ;-)

I've already gotten so much enjoyment out of the earlier versions at the little ORBX grass strips... It's easily the strongest sense of deja vu the sim has ever given me. This model is beautiful, and flies SO well. It's gonna be an instant favorite for everyone who likes barnstorming flying!

I flew the PT-17 U.S. Army Version this afternoon. Here is my PIREP for my first test flight of this beautiful aircraft beta version. Flight planned in Skyvector VFR KSUT Cape Fear Jetport NC to KCRE Grand Strand Airport SC. A 33 minute flight direct but I did a few detours for a few maneuvers. Initial altitude filed 3,500 feet AGL Altimeter 30.14 set before takeoff at 18:30Z. Fuel used 7.6 gallons.

A really smooth takeoff. Very easy to get the nose down and aircraft level taking off so that runway is clearly visible ahead. Aircraft responds really well to stick pressure, not much required. My trim was a little sensitive for level flight but that was my "heavy finger" and I learned quickly that it just takes a "wee bit o' trim" for her to level out at 2200 RPMs.

Climbed to 5,000 and did a couple of aileron rolls. Then straight up and cut the throttle for a deliberate stall. Stalled out at about 38 knots and then the nose fell straight over and straight down picked up 100 knots airspeed without any trouble. Full throttle and slight back pressure being constantly applied and back to level flight without any problems.

resumed a heading of 240 Mag and flew on to Grand Strand. Tower cleared us right away for a left approach to Runway 05. In real life there were would be traffic for KMYR Myrtle Beach International which is very busy. Sectional requires us to check in with KMYR Approach because we were within 20 miles of the airport but that was not possible in FSX ATC which locked us into KCRE. I didn't have traffic on today anyway. Didn't want any interference with the test flight. Here's some screen shots I took of this really beautiful aircraft. Thanks Paul and the team for all your hard work.

    Richard

There's still a little more testing to do before it's released.

Testing is just about complete (at least I hope so.) Waiting for final sound packages from Immersive Audio, expected by weeks end. Our test team has done a great job wringing out bugs and testing enhancements. As with past release SOH members will get a discounted version during first week of release. Once we have the sound files will fix a form date. Sorry for the delay. We want this to go out right. Thanks all

Thanks for the update. I am not buying many planes these days, but this will be an immediate first day release purchase.

    Thanks,

    It's Fantastic

Here are a few more pics I took flying the Stearman today from KDNL Daniel Field GA. Daniel Field was one of the Contract Fields used to train pilots in WWII With their first aviation training. The scenery is really nice and free over at Flyaway Simulation. I positively love this airplane. It is a joy to fly.
