    Formula 1 2018.

The first three new cars have been unveiled, the rest will follow this week, just in time for the first test which starts on Monday the 26th.

Haas was the first to unveil their VF-18 (Although it looks like a digital rendering.). Both Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen have kept their seats for this season.

Next was the Williams FW41, where Felipe Massa is replaced by Russian driver Sergey Sirotkin.

And today Red Bull revealed their RB14 which will be driven by Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo, with a rather neat looking temporary livery:

Intel i9-13900 Raptor Lake , Be Quiet! Dark rock slim cooler, 32 Gb Corsair DDR5 RAM, MSI Z790 Tomahawk motherboard, Asus RTX 4060Ti 16Gb, Thermaltake 1050 Watt PSU, Windows 11 64-bit 1 m2, 4 SSD, 2 HDD.

At least they have got rid the T wings and fins, but those halos just ruin the look of the cars.

I think the should remove the wheels, I'm convinced its much safer

To reflect my opinion about the halo.........

To be honest I think that clear view adds more to safety than this halo.

Waiting for Ford to announce factory power for Haas.....
I'd say 2020. It was no 'coincidence' IMHO that Haas switched his NASCAR team from Chevy to Ford....

Haas will not be a subscriber engine team for the long run either..

I could care less, the HALO has really defused what little remaining enthusiasm I had for EffWun.
'Real Racing' starts this weekend and I'm off to PI as of Friday AM.

I'm waiting for the first driver to jump out of the car, trip over the halo and get injuries when he plants his face in the tarmac...

Anyway, back to the new cars, here's the Alfa Romeo Sauber-Ferrari (Where Alfa is the title sponsor and Ferrari the engine supplier, much the same like Aston Martin Red Bull-Renault...) C37, which will be driven by Marcus Ericsson and Formula 2 champion Charles Leclerc:

And the Renault RS18 (With a Renault engine, to keep it simple..) with Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz as this year's drivers:

Intel i9-13900 Raptor Lake , Be Quiet! Dark rock slim cooler, 32 Gb Corsair DDR5 RAM, MSI Z790 Tomahawk motherboard, Asus RTX 4060Ti 16Gb, Thermaltake 1050 Watt PSU, Windows 11 64-bit 1 m2, 4 SSD, 2 HDD.

Re: those halos" - seems like an attempt to make crashes more survivable may have made crashes more likely due to restricted visibility.

Reminds me of those back-up alarms on trucks and construction equipment that have made job sites more dangerous because the multitude of alarms sounding from all directions make it impossible to hear the vehicle that's about to run you over.

The Red Bull looks silly - all that crap on the nose is guaranteed to end up in cornflake-sized pieces all over the track after lap 1.

Yet another excuse for the curse of F1 - the safety car.....

    The new Mercedes
    W09 EQ Power+
, like 2017 with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas behind the wheel:

And the Ferrari SF71H, also with the same drivers line-up as last season:

Note the extra 'layer' on top of the halo....

Tomorrow McLaren will show their new contender, which will be orange it seems:

Force india and Toro Rosso will show their cars on Monday morning, just ahead of the start of the first winter test session.

A first photo of the STR13 Honda was published by the team yesterday:

Intel i9-13900 Raptor Lake , Be Quiet! Dark rock slim cooler, 32 Gb Corsair DDR5 RAM, MSI Z790 Tomahawk motherboard, Asus RTX 4060Ti 16Gb, Thermaltake 1050 Watt PSU, Windows 11 64-bit 1 m2, 4 SSD, 2 HDD.

And the new McLaren MCL33, with the Renault engine and Alonso and Vandoorne as drivers:

Intel i9-13900 Raptor Lake , Be Quiet! Dark rock slim cooler, 32 Gb Corsair DDR5 RAM, MSI Z790 Tomahawk motherboard, Asus RTX 4060Ti 16Gb, Thermaltake 1050 Watt PSU, Windows 11 64-bit 1 m2, 4 SSD, 2 HDD.

The first day of testing is underway at Barcelona, and just before the test started the last two cars of 2018 were revealed:

The Force India VJM11, driven by Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon:

And the Toro Rosso Honda STR13, where Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley will be behind the wheel:

As was expected, Red Bull changed their camo livery back to the same as they had last season (Unfortunately..)

Intel i9-13900 Raptor Lake , Be Quiet! Dark rock slim cooler, 32 Gb Corsair DDR5 RAM, MSI Z790 Tomahawk motherboard, Asus RTX 4060Ti 16Gb, Thermaltake 1050 Watt PSU, Windows 11 64-bit 1 m2, 4 SSD, 2 HDD.

Day three of winter testing, not a lot of running today...

All those Pirelli compounds, yet not a snow tire available..

Given the present conditions and the current weather forecast they might as well pack up and head for Dubai!
After 3 days the total number of testing runs is pathetic and car damage is escalating.
Climate Change is real and happening all over!
