    Avro Shackleton - Pelican 16

I ran across this video on U-Tube today. I'd never heard of this story before. You will need about an hour to watch both parts of this remarkable story, of an amazing airplane and a great crew. It's worth it.

Sad but interesting story for sure. Too bad she never made it back to the UK.

We, at Ysterplaat Air Force Base in Cape Town, have the last remaining Shackleton MR3, known as Pelican 1722.
There are, it is said, a few hours left in her, but, not enough man hours to train new crew, additionally, as she is a heritage aircraft, she stays grounded.
However, on the last Saturday of each month, she gets taken out of her hanger & gets her engines started up.
We aslo have built a Shack simulator on a trailor as well.
