    RTWR 2018 Practice 4

Using the same rules for P1 P2, and P3 proceed from FACT to SCGZ with 1 stop above N70.

For this practice we will allow each pilot 1 wildcard leg of not more than 1,000 nm (3 hr time limit).

Pilot requirements. After you advance the baton on your first leg your next leg must be in one of the MS/Lockheed Default aircraft. There is no time or distance limit on this flight. This is a one time requirement although feel free to fly a default any time you choose.

Well, this practice has a bit of route choice then...

Greenland looks to be shortest, and getting there via UK and Iceland is easy enough, but then there's a lot of sea to cross. I wonder what the range of the Default MS B747-400 is...

    Some thoughts.
Well, if you kick all the passengers off and load 'er chock full of fuel, she'll go a very long way indeed! I was thinking the B744 from Greenland to either CYHZ, TXKF, or LPLA depending on the winds, or heck, even to SOCA to take VERY advantage of the terms. (Yes, I know it's bad grammar - just trying to use it as humor.)
I thind rat-holing a default B744 flight from Greenland would be a good move. A lot of open ocean, that's where we should use it.
    Fair skies and following winds,

For those who might contemplate that long overnight express run...
"For this practice we will allow each pilot 1 wildcard leg of not more than 1,000 nm (3 hr time limit)." Dave's rules, not mine - if up to me I'd have said 1500nm in 4-engine piston aircraft, but then I like long flights in the B-50

It can go at least 5 miles after it runs out of fuel. A few years ago in a Race leg Fliger747 loaded the fuel to the aircraft as he would in the real thing. Opps bad idea he ran out on final the tanks are not configured the same as in the aircraft he flew. Luckily he saw it coming and had extra altitude on his side. He landed empty with only the pucker factor to show for it.
