    B-58 Hustler bare metal textures...

Has anyone ever redone a bare metal repaint of Glowing Heat's B-58 that really showed the "shininess"? All the bare metal repaints I have seen seem dull, not shiny. The reason I ask is because I thought someone had recently figured out how to improve the bare metal look in repaints. Thanks. NC

    Hey Chief,

You may want to ask the GMAN about this. Seems that there were some screenshots in this forum a while back that depicted a very highly polished paint for the GH Hustler. I don't think they were ever released but it never hurts to ask.

I knew I wasn't crazy! Well, then again, that would be another topic for discussion, eh? Thanks. I will ask him. NC

000rick000 did a few nice textures for the GH B-58 that are in the library here. I don't have it and just remember the screenshots, so I can't say for how shiny they are, but he does good work.

    NC,

I have several repaints if stick aircraft converted for bare aluminum. Search my username and only DL the latest versions. Most should be v3. But one or two might still be v2.

Make sure you are using the alternate Envmap by banana Bob. Or it will not look right.

Funny, I just last week pulled this one out of mothballs and lit her up. One heck of an aircraft. Along with the Razbam F-102A and Rob's Six. Outruns everything in the air . . . except a refueling tanker . .

    Rick,
Is Bob's envmap already in your paints? Or do you need to download it separately? I do have it somewhere - or know where to download it - but can't tell which bmp is which, if you follow me, by just looking at the file.

I don't remember TBH. But I want to say it is not included. It's on my to do list to create my own Envmap from scratch so I won't have to deal with this issue anymore! But until then.... Bob's is the best for my purposes.

I followed suggestions and installed Banana Bob's textures. But it doesn't look as shiny as I'd thought it would... NC

Not all are ultra reflective. The Snoopy is not as reflective as the one in my screenshot.

This was the first aircraft I ever attempted to do any textures editing with EVER. So although v3 is much better than v1 in terms of look...I still would like to revisit the Hustler and redo the work from scratch applying the knowledge I've gained over the last 6 years...

This is v3 in P3Dv4. Looks pretty up to snuff! Be great if you could extend your skills to "Ginger" (by DaveQ - with his permission of course) and also the default TB-58 with the red makings, if you are so inclined!!
