Thread: Assetto Corsa Redux

This is odd to say the least.
The very strange 'spoiler' is ridiculous.
Shame as the rest of the litter are good, odd 'racing' colour schemes aside.

Found a 250LM, downloaded and installed it and it was really disappointing!
Understeered like a pig and the body looks like a poor rendition out of GTL, the wheel arches look like they were cut out with a pair of tin snips, but the sounds great so I hope it gets a makeover.

I had to get AC back up to date and run some new 'old' cars!
Cleaned out ALL the ones I don't like/use (including several Kunos cars) and loaded up some classics and more Porsches than were produced in RL.

The TVR is a hoot, SWB rear drive and overpowered, entertaining.

A newer Healey 3000, drives well and sounds great, even hangs the tail out.

Another D-type, looks, sounds and drives rather well.

And the original Maserati 300S has been updated, considerably better than the original.

A new 250TR is always good to have, all swoopy curves and V12 noise.

This Lancia D50 is a little rough around the edges but is apparantly still in beta. Encouraging to see old F1 cars appearing.

The Lancia is from Assettopedia https://assettopedia.forumfree.it/?t=76499092 as was the 250TR and the 300S I re-discovered with a quick web search, somewhere in the depths of the Assetto corsa car mods Farcebook page.
Some interesting Lancia, Alfa and FIAT subjects on Assettopedia Ferry.

Uodate: Found the 300S here http://depositfiles.com/files/hw8xk7oya

Thanks, I didn't know that site!

The 300S looks like an old car, posted back in 2014?

I think it has been updated since then Ferry but it's certainly better than the first 300S from a couple of years ago and I think it might be the one and only.
Be nice if we had a new generation 300S and Tipo 61 Maseratis but there seems to be a trend toward wildly customised and overpowered mods.
    Then again they cost nothing.

While searching for the D50 I did find this site: https://www.assettocorsamods.org/
Anyone ever bought anything there? Looks like they have some nice F1 packs.

First car I tried from that Italian site wasn't a great succes:

    This one's better though:

Practice for the 2020 Dutch GP:

I really dislike the modernised versions of cars like the Delta.
Several Ferrari and Porsche classics that have received the hot-rod makeovers simply would never work in RL and look bloody aweful, so I avoid them.
I often wonder if these modders understand suspension geometry and it's relationship to huge wheels, as in the 'wide body' Delta.
However, there are several gems on Assettopedia among the dross.

The Delta looked interesting, yet the steering is really heavy and about as direct as a lorry. Not a good combination with an engine that seems to only have an on/off switch...

Usually it only takes one or two laps on a familiar track to figure out is a mod is well done or not.
I really don't bother with cars anymore that don't have the right tires, gearbox etc. etc. Plenty of other fish in the sea!

This one is a lot of fun!

Of course, pretty much like Fiat did when developing the 124, they could borrow a lot from the MX-5..

This one's not too bad either:
