    X-Plane 11.10 Public Beta RELEASED!

Well, as the title states, Laminar has released X-Plane 11.10 Public Beta.

Now, before you all start updating your current version of X-Plane 11, you might want to read these first:

    http://developer.x-plane.com/2017/10...eta-1-is-here/

So, I went the long way and decided to install a second copy of X-Plane 11 first. Yes, the installer will give you that option.
This way I can enjoy my regular flying while also being able to explore the latest version, and go through the waves of it's bugs and updates.

Once the second copy is installed, I will run the installer again from the directory of that copy, and select "check for Betas").

The first reactions to version 11.10 that I have seen are very promising, and we are already at the second update (b2).

Please post your findings here, as I would appreciate hear everyone's thoughts and experiences as we go through the process of Pubic Beta testing.

    Wow. KUDO's to Laminar.

Their installer worked like a charm.
It gave me the option to install a second copy in a different location.
Of course downloading and installing 35 GB took a few hours.

Then I ran the installer again, checked "look for beta's" and it detected that I now have to copies of X-Plane 11 installed. It asked which copy I wanted to update, so I selected the latest installment
30 minutes later, and I now have one copy of X-Plane 11.05 (for regular flight enjoyment) and the latest X-Plane 11.10b2, to go through all the excitement/frustrations a public beta offers.

Again, thumbs up to Laminar for providing such an easy installer.

Now it's time to find out what this new beta version has in store for me.

Hmm, and I just put a new 500gb ssd on my X Plane system. How nice.

Ah, you were just in time with that new SSD Sue.

They are now at version b3, and the next update can be expected some time this week.

So far I am liking what I see.

Good FPS, more crisp cockpit, and Oh, I found out that Aeroworx is bringing the C-47 by Manfred Jahn, Jan Visser and Team to X-Plane. A beta version has been released. Christmas arrived early this year, lol.

Impressive. So far I like the changes in the beta. I've only spent a couple hours with it though.

We are at version b4 now, and so far I am really impressed with the progress of this beta, Loving that I can finally create aircraft specific control assignments.

And the overall "feel" and look of this simulator only get's better and better.

Suddenly, with the same graphics settings, ( and the same hardware ) I'm getting .4 FPS "this is all your hardware will do" messages. Besides that I have to run in Win & compatibility mode or it CTDs. What did they change from B3 to b4 ? It was smooth as silk before. My main non beta install still is.
I may never update my main X -11 install if this is going to happen. Lowering the graphic settings doesn't change anything.

Sue, I'm using a friend's older unit with a i5 6400 that runs at 3.5GHz, 8 GB RAM and 4GB 770 TI video card and I'm not having the same problem. I know you know your computer well but I would do a reinstall if you haven't done so...let us know how things go.

    You're kidding, right?
I'm going to move it to my Intel machine. FSX didn't like the AMD processor either, perhaps it will make a difference. Both 4 gigahertz quadcore, but...

Well I confess I am not a big AMD anything fan...but the new Ryzen chips are pretty promising. I was tech review specialist for Tech Corp after a long career with Automatic Data Processing. AMD struggled terribly but Ryzen has opened up new vistas...maybe there is hope.

Yep, it doesn't like AMD. Moved the SSD to my Intel machine, and it's smooth as silk, with higher settings. AMD 4ghz quad vs I7 4ghz quad. Win 10, vs Win7 also...
    LOL
