P3Dv4 - RAZBAM / Wilco Harrier VTOL: Any solutions in sight?

Hi everybody. Just installed my Wilco Harrier (FSX) into v4, and I have to say, the performance is so much better here! But unfortunately, neither the HUD nor the VTOL work. Same with the RAZBAM Harriers, but there seems no solution in sight...

    - Did anybody hear anything about a solution?
    - Does anybody have skills (or can explain) to maybe repair this near future?

Would be a great increase of quality of living for VTOL enthusiasts

Hope this thread may be a start of think tank regarding this topic....
    Best regards, Manfred.

Concerning the Razbam Harrier, I don't think any solution will come.
Razbam has stopped developping for FSX/P3D, so don't expect anything for P3Dv4. They only do addons for DCS now.
Probably the best solution is to switch to the SSW Harrier, which is or will soon be compatible with P3Dv4. This addon is also much more complete (avionics) and realistic (VTOL flight model) than the Razbam Harrier.

The SSW Harrier is already P3D v4 compatible.

Thanks, mates. Allthough a layman, I am very interested (and many others here around certainly) in solutions how to maybe solve this technical problem.

Is this grounded in some dll?
Why can the 64bit sim version not read the appropriate files correctly furtheron?
Is it possible to use maybe other files to get the VTOL engine working (i. e. MV-22 Osprey)?

Don't laugh, as written, I am a layman on the subject...
    Best regards, Manfred.

Manfred, the short story is that the VTOL function of the Wilco, Razbam and SSW Harriers depends on external DLL gauges which were written for a 32 bit sim. The sim talks with these DLL gauges through the SimConnect interface. P3Dv4 cannot work with 32bit DLL gauges, they need to be re-written for 64bit. Apparently only SSW has done that so at the moment that's your only option.

Ah, okay. Thank you. So assuming I would buy the SSW Harrier, would it be maybe possible to exchange the needed files from the Wilco and RAZBAM?
Are those files integrated inside the models?
Just to ask because loosing the GR3 and GR7 means to loose 75 percent of my sim life. Most parts of my sim life consist of flying in the 80s, inside memories when those Harriers where all around in the air. Flightsim would not be so important to me anymore without landing / hoovering at the Hides....
    Best regards, Manfred.

Not a hope. Sorry. If you want a Harrier in V4 I think your only choice is to embrace the SSW version in it's entirety.
Your English is better than my French, German, Italian, Spanish.... so no worries my friends!

Mmpf - what a shame! Also because as read RAZBAM wont develop for Flightsim furthermore and I don't think that WILCO is been interested to waste their time on their Harriers improvement....
So I will take my P3D avatar and have a walk to the sea nearby....Goodbye despicable (flightsim)world
    Best regards, Manfred.

There may be hope, at least for the Wilco Harrier.
I believe it uses Doug Dawson's xml2ipc gauge to control the vtol. I've asked Doug if he'll recompile the gauge for v4. He said it would probably need to be a complete rewrite but he's put it on his to-do list, maybe a couple of weeks.
In the meantime, I've written a small xml interface gauge to pass the Vtol commands to xmltools instead. This worked as a "proof of concept", but it's a bit glitchy and not really smooth.

Re. The Razbam Harrier, I did try swapping out the fd and vtol controls with another solution. Managed to get vtol working, but lost some VC engine displays.

it can to do exhange, but the possibility is very low and lot of work to do. why?
as long as I work with Rob Barendgret (VTOL author), VTOL are tune up base on aircraft flight dynamic (FDE), moving over from aircraft to another will need entire aircraft.cfg and air file. mean time you will need lot of re-adjust for it. so my advice, please don't.

I build a small dll gauge that can substitute with xml2ipc from Doug. the name is AVM32.dll and AVM64.dll, 32 or 64 is where the dll will work, so it will work from FSX till P3D v4 (respective to dll name). all VTOL gauge produce by Rob will work with this dll gauge. it free dll gauge, so please don't sell it and give me a credit if you like it or embedded in other aircraft.

some where in this week, Rob will upload it in public in fsdeveloper.com, don't know he upload here too or not.

Sounds interesting, it would be appreciated if it could be uploaded here.

    Hi,

Maryadi pointed me to this thread ...

As Henk pointed out, there's now a 64-bit replacement for the xml2ipc module.
    Made by Maryadi.
Which solves the VTOL for the Wilco Harrier (not the HUD).

I'm about to upload it to FS-Developer.
After I get some feedback (that it works for more people), I'll probably upload it hereat SOH too.

By the way: requires the presence of the library "C++ 2015 Redistributable" on your PC.
You can check this in Windows, under "Installed Programs". It should contain the entries:
    - Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x86)
    and
    - Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x64).
If not installed yet, you can download it here:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=48145

It's best to install both the .x86 and .x64 versions.

See also this thread on FS-Developer ...

    Cheers,

    Rob Barendregt

PS: just saw that Maryadi replied allready himself....
