If it can be done, how can removal of some original ships not related to the theater be removed to improve load up time?
It is done with airfields and aircraft. Just wondering about ships--like-ETO and MTO theaters.

Jim,
Hey, good to see you posting again. The answer is a little iffy.
If you're flying my stuff, the answer is an unqualified yes for any of the auto-installers in the ETO and MTO. As a general rule, I use add-on ships rather than stockers, and those which I can include are included, and those which I cannot are hyperlinked.
For anything that is not an auto-installer but is still something I did, the answer is a likely yes for the ETO and MTO, but I can't say that with any certainty regarding the Eastern Front.
If its anyone else's work for the ETO and MTO (such as Captain Kurt, Stuart277, or Devildog73) I can't say for sure. Removing the Japanese and CFS1 types are generally pretty safe, but keep them in a backup folder in case you need them.

Hello Highpockets,
There is a utility called 'Shipman' that can be used to conveniently remove and return ships to your cfs2 ship folder.
It works the same a 'ACman'.
It is easy to use, however, you may run into trouble if the 'removed' ships have been used in scenery.
Cheers,
Stuart
Hey guys Thanks for the responses. I will give it a try sometime this week maybe. Just tinkering a bit.
could one of you direct me to the "shipman" utility?
It's here at the bottom on the right side of the page listed under utilities

Have you tried Mortons CFS2 Utilities? It checks your ships against what you have and you can swap planes and ships in and out. I found it works great.
MK-CFS2 can be found here, along with other helpful programs:

thanks guys again. Not sure if I am smart enough to operate these.
I will check it out!
I tryed to remove those ships a few years ago, the result was CFS2 stops to load; maybe there is a posible way to remove them now.
Another way is to replace those ships with a new model (MDL) file, important: each name of the MDL and DP has to be the same as the name of the original file names.
Also the ship name in the ship.cfg file has to be the same. You can finally change the name of a ship in the “mdlnames” text file (to be found in the main CFS2 folder and to be opened with text editor) here you will find some lines like that below:
"Shj_Merchant"=HIJMS Merchant Ship
Search for the original file name you want to replace, than edit the name behind the”=” like
"Shj_Merchant"=My new name for the ship

You can remove any stock ship, aircraft or vehicle from the game as long as you also remove the name of whatever you are removing from the mdlnames.txt file. Open it with Notepad, find the name in the list and erase it, save and close.
When the game starts it looks at the mdlnames.txt file and if there is a name without a corresponding model, the game won't start. Remove the name and the game does not look for that model.
Just remember if you have a compaign or mission that needs what you deleted, then those won't start.
Try it, it works on my installs.
Cheers,
Captain Kurt

Already figured that out by trying it! Shifted them into a special folder in case I had to go back
