If you are wearing red cross you are not supposed to be armed. See Geneva Convention...

    Could be aranged...if needed?.....

IIRC, during the Battle of Britain, the RAF believed the Luftwaffe was using these red cross marked aircraft to spy and track convoys, and ordered them to be attacked when encountered. If it was true they were being used for military purpose, it is likely they flew armed.

    WOW!

Some of those screenies look real instead of simulation.

Not sure how it could be used yet
Messed around with something not to dissimilar back in the day, Skuas were used to tow enormous flares over the beaches of dunkerque at night to provide ilumination.

Probably my favourite Skua livery was the one used by Blackburn for ditching trials, the skua was meant to be watertight and stay afloat when ditched. The conversion I did back in the day had everything fixed animation wise and modelled bomb wise over Buddha's original conversion. It also included scrape points to allow said ditching (and many other tweaks, etc.).

, nope, but they do look like Sugar Daddies don't they?

It's my attempt at modelling starshell/ parachute flares. Configured as an aircraft, & spawned with an "enters Area" event, they hang in the air for a good 7 minutes or so. The effects are a combination of various effects, including FS9 firework effects & reworked textures.

These screengrabs might show the sequence better (displaying right to left, for some reason)

TBH, I like your Skua towed flare effect better, care to share?

I just scaled up a stock effect and attached it to the model using the VC light section of the cfg. There was a limit to how far away it could be placed, not quite as far as it should be. Kind gave up on it as it didn't illuminate it's surroundings, no light is cast onto the terrain hence, kind pointless. I'm not even sure if I still have it, will go digging.

    Edit, cfg entry is

    [LIGHTS]
    panel = 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, fx_vclight_flaretug

the offset to the rear is done in the effect file itself.

    @ pcaviator. $8.98 USD for Fs9 version.

Needs a conversion, but will work fine.

Sure, I'll give it a shot. Just so you know, I tried the one by Rory Kelly and it was a no go. Seems this Fs8 model has different animation format compared to Fs9.

    Question

Hey Dice. How about a SH3A?

I hate to scare anyone but, a first re-texture attempt.

Kaman SH-2G Seasprite grey to a late 50's, early 6o's grey/blue. Not exactly the correct series. This model by Nigel Booth seems the best in the world of freeware.

    Not scary at all Dave...

    good first effort .
