Man, Thomas, I remember seeing these 6s looking exactly like your shot, parked/flying down in Miami and up in Ft. Lauderdale back in the late 70s. I'm sure there are a lot fewer now! NICE job!

yes, the N55CA of F.A. Connor right out of the corrosive corner of Miami, now like a DC-6BF with full cargo equipment. A good base for further Vortex, Universal, Trans-Air-Link or many other good old friends. We will see.

I am surprised that by now there have not been more liveries done for the DC-6 for FSX/P3D but none have appeared yet. By comparison there are quite a few for the X-Plane version. So either everyone is happy with what they have now or the paint process is a bugger or there is not as much interest in this bird as we might think. TIAR I also had a look at the paint kit and it is a busted flush for me as well as I cannot use psd. files in my paint program either. Might be waiting awhile for a TEAL and TAA livery for this gem.

Alternatively, it was raised as a question in another thread, can you convert X-Plane paints to work in FSX? I have no idea.

Portover X-Plane-png files is working, if you have the PMDGs FSX/P3D repaints and you are familar with generally repainting skills. They are using the same mappings. But you canīt publish them without permission, because it not your work. Perhaps this is the reason, that no repaints are released yet. So I create these aluminium bases for me. I will share my work as soon as possible. The PMDG DC-6A/B is a great choice. Its my favorite p3DV4 bigprop at the moment. I have a lot of fun with it.

Both TEAL and TAA are very easy to do - with a good base. But I canīt do them in the next weeks.

Thomas, the Ansett-ANA aircraft is also to repaint. I did one for the JF DC-6B and started working on one for TAA but got involved in a couple of beta programmes and it has been sitting awaiting finishing.

    Cheers

TIAR I see the issue now, X-Plane uses the open source, aka GIMP type .png file formating for textures. So one would need to convert these .png files into DDS format to work in MS, that strikes me as being a serious bit of work and one has to say not worth the effort, easier to start from scratch with the paint kit.

no its actually very easy to use png to dds

import the png into your paint program and then save is as a .psd then use your nvida tools to convert it to dds

the actually alpha shine is in the spec mapping,

Just uploaded three repaints here in library. They are available soon.

This repaint shows DC-6A N620NA of Nord Aviation with c/n 44677/527. This Six was delivered on 1954-11-26 to the famous Flying Tiger Line as N34953. Nord Aviation bought it in September 1993 (reregistering it back to N620NA), while Nord Star Airlines started a lease by that date. 1997 it participated in a commercial for American Airlines and was resprayed as such. Based at Santa Teresa Airport/Dona Ana County Airport, El Paso, NM. Last action date was 2008-10-21, wearing old AA color scheme without titles. Registration cancel date was 2012-08-15. Status unknown.

This repaint shows DC-6B V5-NCF of The Flying Bulls (Redbull) with c/n 45563 in 2000. Was built 1958 for Jugoslovenski Aerotransport. Sold to Yugoslav Air Force in 1961. Later this Six was sold to Namibia Commercial Aviation NCA in 1994 as V5-NCF. Two years later on duty with Namibia Airlines wearing NCA sheme and Air Namibia stickers. In 2000 sold to The Flying Bulls, transfered it to Salzburg/Austria. Today in 2017, the OE-LDM is the last airworthy DC-6B in Europe.

This repaint shows DC-6B(F) N55CA of Conner F.A. with c/n 45328/825. Ex DC-6B CF-CZU of CP Air. This aircraft was based in Miami MIA until 1991. Airworthy until 1997. Ended in Opa Locka. Registration cancelled 2013-04-18.

    Have fun

The Norwegian airline Braathens SAFE operated several DC-6. I have made a livery of the DC-6B LN-SUB (1960 - 1969).

Trying to do a VC-118B - it nearly works with DC-6A model... But you will only have textured windows.

WIP. This repaint shows USN VC-118B VR-1 (128425) of 1960.

Here it is the final repaint work of this unique paint scheme. I just uploaded it here in library.

This repaint shows US Navy VC-118B 128425 of VR-1 Squadron based at NAF Andrews in 1963. It was one of six R6D-1 delivered from Ontario, CA 1961 und redesignated as C-116B. Others were 128423, 128427, 128429, 128431, and 128433. 128425 was the only one wearing this red scheme on tail for a very short period of time.

    Just uploaded:

This repaint shows DC-6B 13+03 of German Air Force with c/n 45065. This Six was delivered on 1961-10-25 to Lockheed Aircraft Corp as N93114. On 1962-01-27 civil registration cancelled. Luftwaffe bought this aircraft 1962 with three other DC-6B and changed registration into CA+034, later to CA+021 (all older Hunting Pembrokes were sold) and finally to 13+03. During Luftwaffe-time 13+03 was a VIP aircraft for the German Government (Flugbereitschaft BMVg) until 1968. Later 13+03 was sold to Niger Airforce as 5U-AAE. Was scrapped as F-ODBR in Le Bouget 1981.
