    Help needed

    Hi guys,
I got a new computer and installed the newest windows 10 version on it.
Have been running win10 with cfs3 in the past without any problems.
Installed the game, pasted the .exe to desktop. gave it xp service pack 3 compatibility.
    ran the config
Started the game and it works.

Then i wanted to go play online...........
    Opened multiplayer options tab
changed the connection type to T1
    clicked okay.......
    Crash

BTW the oleacc.dll i had already deleted

Changing anything in the multiplayer options tab results in crash after clicking okay (connection type, or country, or Player name, or pilot)

If I open the multiplayer tab for joining a game it also crashes

reinstalled the game 20 times now (on ssd program files (x86) on D:\ now straight into the root directory of C:\ nothing helps
switched off firewall, switched off antivirus. made all exclusions, nothing helpsdxdiag.txt

On my other computer win10 wouldn't update properly but CFS3 always ran fine there.
Unfortunately i wiped that win10 installation and did a clean install so my wife can use that computer.

Now i figured, on that computer it always ran fine so it must be a hardware problem, no worries, i will install the game there so at least i can still play online games on sunday.

@#$^&*(*&^%$$ after wiping and installing the latest win10 on the old computer it has the exact same problem.

The game runs fine but multiplayer doesn't

    dxdiag.txt tells me this

Please, if anybody has a clue what it could be?

    Antivirus exclusions done
    Firewall exclusions done
    Router ports opened

    2300-2400
    86663-86667
dmz activated in wired ip 192.168.1.67

Must be something in win10 that screws it up

my realtime protection on my antivirus showed 3 files while the crash happened
    C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\Windows\Softwa reProtectionPlatform\SvcRestartTask
    dx diag
    timestamp nvidia

Also see at opening the multiplayer tab, some files in the dialog directory open up

Maybe this can help one of you online whizkids in the community

Any help is very very very much appreciated

    Cheers

    hi Ganesh,

I don't have any experience with setting up multiplayer, but did you notice that in the dxdiag appcrash notifications, that it describes CFS3 as running in Win 7? One time it mentions "cfs3- multi player win7.exe".

Then another crash report mentions " cfs3- multi player win7.exe.exe". Two exes on this line.

If you have another cfs3 install that is working in single player mode, have a look into the dxdiag.txt in that install and see in any crash reportsthe if reference to cfs3 is the same. Just an idea?

    Thx Daiwilletti

That was another copy of a friend trying to help with his exe file, the name win7 is just a reference name where the settings are changed to run in winxp service pack 3 mode. so it doesnt overwrite the original.exe from the original game. if i cghange that name the updates to 3.1 and 3.1a wont install
The exe.exe is just a mistake from my friend, He named it double but it has no negative effect on running the game because i also tried the .exe and it encounters the same problems.
if i look at the event log in windows it shows a problem in gundll.dll

Must something in the new release of windows10

Something cannot read it or is blocked by the newest version of Windows because the previous version did work.

Thx for your reply mate, really dont know what to do anymore

Not that i hate Bill Gates and his cronies or anything, but i would unplug his life support to charge my phone........

Holy cats, Hanko, I'm clueless on this one...and I've been trying.

It may be Video settings, so maybe check for any updates for your
graphic card and/or try running the game in the lowest resolution.
(btw, my gundll is 381kb and common is 428kb (win7))

Just a thought, best of luck on this one, we need you back in MP!

maybe this helps with a future solution

Did some more research on it,

Seems that the new windows has a new secdrv.sys that checks for signed driver files. (windows/system32/drivers/secdrv.sys)

It blocks application commands when it refers to an unsigned driver.

The advice was, take an old secdrv.sys and replace the newer one in the new version of your windows
or use a program to edit it.

Sorry people. For now i don't have the time or guts to go mess around in my new computer and maybe botch it up.

But for the computernurds (and i mean that in a good way) this might help locate the problem and maybe bring out a fix for people that experience my problem.

Haha, btw, my ex-wife used to refer to me and fellow-flyers as "flying-nerds.com"

Thx for all the effort in helping guys

btw, this win10 doesn't have the secdrv.sys file at all
