    You are in FSX or in P3D ?

    in aircaft cfg

    Relace in light section from light 10 with below-save

    light.10=4, 12.80, 0.00, 1.208, fx_vclighth,
    light.11=4, 8.00, 0.00, 1.208, fx_vclighth,

    light.18=4, 21.71, 0, 0.593, fx_vclighth,

    If too bright you chnage all fx_vclightH. to fx_vclight

    That will work

    Gauges backlight- far in future as due to adding lightmap model change required and makes model more Memory heavy

    That certainly worked - thanks! Understand about the gauge backlighting.
    Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

    Not really a repaint - just used GIMP to change the blue to black and borrowed from the default textures the wing and engine N reg. Looks OK though.

    That's odd, in P3D v4.5 my light section looks like this:

    [LIGHTS]
    //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo
    //------- -Fwd/Aft---L/R----Vert---Effect Type
    light.0=3, -8.82, -27.19, -2.55, fx_navredm ,
    light.1=3, -8.82, 27.19, -2.55, fx_navgrem ,
    light.2=3, -27.10, 0.00, -0.10, fx_navwhi ,
    light.3=2, -8.88, -27.19, -2.55, fx_strobe ,
    light.4=2, -8.88, 27.19, -2.55, fx_strobe ,
    light.5=2, -27.30, 0.00, -0.10, fx_strobe ,
    light.6=1, -24.15, 0.00, 12.85, fx_beacon ,
    light.7=1, 0.06, 0.00, -4.95, fx_beacon,
    light.8=8, 21.677873, -0.6053, -5.0, fx_landing ,
    light.9=8, 8.76873, -12.6, -3.7, fx_JS2_landing,
    light.10=4, 1.80, 0.00, 2.08, fx_vclighth,
    light.11=4, 6.00, 0.00, 2.08, fx_vclighth,
    light.12=4, 16.80, 0.00, 1.80, fx_vclighth,
    light.13=8, 8.76873, -12.6, -4.2, fx_landing,
    light.14=8, 8.76873, 12.6, -4.2, fx_JS2_landing,
    light.15=8, 8.76873, 12.6, -3.7, fx_JS2_landing,

    I too do not have any cockpit lights either, I understand your stated issues with instrument back lights.

    I don't have 18 entries like you show.

    Just add the lights like above explained

    It is before Beta- we will find more things to improve

    Soon I bring up a next version where all that findings will be included

    That worked thanks.
    Is there a separate cockpit light switch or is that forthcoming?
    For now the "L" key will do all or no lights and there are a few
    separate switch levers that independently turn on/off the lights
    except for the cockpit light.

    In the overhead cockpit view, as I press the "L" key I can see all of the rocker light
    switches move and some other knobs and toggle switches move (those cannot be
    moved with mouse cursor (non functional?)

    Hi GE,

    What I did was change the light "code" for the two landing lights to "5" and the nose wheel taxi light to "6" - think they were all labelled "8" (wing light) and then the switches for both landing light and taxi light (use tool tips) worked independently from the 2D panel. Also, Ctrl + L now operates the landing lights, as normal. Think these were coded to wing lights as the VC landing light switches move but don't seem to operate the lights.

    Hi

    There are many switches- not all of them are animted yet ( or wrongly ) as that needs far more time

    But main important ones are there

    If you hover with mouse over the center lowest ones you will see them and they function as well

    Just inner VC light has no functioning switch

    Hi,
    I like what you are doing with the lights.
    Can you show us your full listing of light entries as there seem to be additional landing lights associated with "wing control".

    My current WIP lights section. You won't have some of these effects so substitute from other a/c or just browse your main effects folder.

    Lights section (right) does not have entries for cockpit lights
    Lights section on left side will operate cockpit lights for me (P3D V4)
    This is a comparison of the update offered here and what was posted
    in thread #151 -

    I used the updated panel and model files per post #133, however while I no longer get the "Unable to load model" error i simply get a CTD now when attempting to load the airplane into the Sim. This isn't an airplane I would fly very often, I just thought I'd try it and see how it was coming along. At this point I think I'll wait til it's a lot further along in development. Keep up the good work though.

    I used "panel light.cfg" which does not have the Fraser 2D panel and got around the CTD. I have FSXA.

    I am now trying the Fraser 2D panel in its original state with the new vc but this has issues because it does not use the Fraser aircraft.cfg which has different fuel
    and other values.

    in FSX/Accel. . ."Normal panel I have nothing". . ."Light panel I have no visible airplane but a 2D panel". . ."Even more light panel is the same as "light" panel. . .no airplane visible but a 2D panel".

    As I mentioned before, I'll wait until the developement has reach a more stable point.

    I'm with Ed on this one, I'm going to wait and see how things work out to produce a decent FSX version in the future. For a project originally intended for FSX it seems to be geared more towards the latest versions of P3D at this time. I certainly do appreciate you efforts on this project though Roland.

    Do you see the plane in preview?

    Yes?

    look to model.cfg, wether the entries in it is same like the file names you use

    "Pilot Error". . . .I had a panel folder inside a panel folder. I now have the jet and the 2d/VC panels just need to correct the glass and I'm good.

    Ed, I got it flying OK last night with the "light" panel .cfg file and the FSX-specific .mdl file, I guess you did too. I found that the vcrainstopped0000.bmp file in the XATCN texture folder was the key to clearing the windows in the VC view. I copied it and dropped it in the other texture folders and that fixed the window glass.

  24. #174

    mdl files..?

    Can someone explain the differences between the FSX mdl files..?

    I can see and fly the aircraft but am not sure of the quality differences between the mdl
    files.

    Hi

    There are no qualitiy differences yet
    and as it is PRE Beta we sort out here as community project the main gliches for a stable Beta as FSX and P3DV4.5/V5.2 ( will be seperated downloads ) in a week or 2

    For now

    FSX ONLY

    Original Download

    From page 6 Tread #131 you use the models

    You use that panel cfg's to
    If you get CTD ( bot sure yet why**) you use the panel light

    You use that attached aircraft.cfg

    aircraft.cfg by 03NOV21.zip

    You move this texture to all your texture folders ( or to your texture folder- where you link the repaints to)

    vcrainstopped0000.zip

    You incorporate all the changes you did yoursefl in the meantime

    Best regards

    Roland

    **We think one gauge of Fraser McKays 2 D panel is causing the CTD. But as many others dont have that problem we are not yet sure

    I would delete the elder files here but I do not how to do that
    maybe admin could help, as I soon run out of possible file memory
