    Gotha Go 242 and 244 released by baldy

    I get a bit OCD every now and again - this time it's on gliders - so my latest effort, which I have just passed to the paintshop and crewchief that is UncleTgt is the Gotha Go 242 - as well as moving parts it has jettisonable wheels and has rato gear

    a couple of pics as a teaser until she comes off the ramp

    Baldy,

    Very nice...and I love the inclusion of BPO..."beans-powered takeoff."

    Gotha Go 242

    Hallo,
    would this fine bird be avaible or flyable in FS2004?
    I have downloaded different versions of the DFS 230,
    but sadly no one is correct in my FSGW3 version.
    it is impossible to land it correctly with out the trolly gear.
    I hope the Gotha will be fine for FS9
    yours

    Go 242

    Hi Papi

    Never got as far as FS9 - all my stuff is CFS2 - however if the Gotha shows up in FS9 ( or someone converts it to FS9 ) then the jettisonable wheels and the rocket pods wont show up because they are functions of the dp file which FS9 doesn't have. All would not be completely lost because the glider has invisible wheels for take off - these are raised in the normal way so that the a/c can land on the skids. This would also apply to my DFS230 if converted to FS9. The pilots in the Go 242 are also in the dp file so they wont show in FS9

    Hope all this makes sense

    Maybe I could rebuild it in gMax. The jettisonable wheels and the rocket pods could be made to "jettison" by spoiler door or landing gear animation. Pilots can be added as I have the CFS2 pilots in gMax fourm that should plug right in.

    Any interest in making a Gotha 244? It's based on the Gotha 242.

    Go 242 / 244

    Hi Allen

    You're more than welcome to give it a go once it's finished - would you need the fsds source file ? send me your email and I'll put it in the post

    baldy

    Hi Boeingetc ( if I may be familiar )

    well it would be no great stretch to do the 244 when I get a bit of time - I'll add it to my list

    The fsds source files many not be any good. Model Converter X should be able to open the model and than the .3ds file it makes will import into gMax.

    Well you know more about it than I do -- so when Uncle and I upload it you're welcome to convert it to FS9

    Go 242

    Am uploading the new Gotha Go 242 next -- for BvA there is a Go 244 by Kazanori Ito over at Simviation -- but this is strictly CFS 2

    A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - German

    Description: Transport glider capable of carrying up to twenty troops or similar weight in cargo. Introduced in 1941/42 and served in most theatres of war including North Africa, Balkans and Russia.

    Generally towed by the He-111 but the He-111z was required when towing two gliders in tandem.

    Hi

    have made a new bgl for the ratog which gives better appearance for the Go 242

    the following are the new entry lines for the dp file

    [Hardpoints]

    mount.4=7.0,0,0
    mount.5=-7.0,0,0

    [PAYLOAD.2]ratog +car
    mount.4=wep_Ger2_ratog, 1, 5
    mount.5=wep_Ger2_ratog, 1, -1

    [PAYLOAD.3]ratog + stores
    mount.4=wep_Ger2_ratog, 1, 5
    mount.5=wep_Ger2_ratog, 1, -1

    new entry line in aircraft.cfg

    panel= 0,0.0,-0.2,fx_rato_rcktexst_l_Gotha

    rename wep_Ger_ratog.dp in objects_dp to wep_Ger2_ratog.dp

    and copy the new bgl into the scenedb/weapons/scenery folder wep_Ger2_ratog.zip

    Gotha Go 242B-1 and Go 244

    When I first uploaded the Go 242 glider Boeingetc asked if I would be going on to make the powered version, the Go 244 - well, I'm making progress in that direction.

    The improved Go 242 ( with fixed wheels ) is nearly ready to be uploaded

    the work on the Go 244 is proceeding and she sent to the paintshop recently - so watch this space

    Thanks Baldy for this and the new Gigant updates. They are all great. Do you know where I can find a CFS2 version of the He 111Z Zwilling?

    Kevin

    He 111Z

    Hi Kevin

    The only model I know is Kazunori Ito's which is for FS2002/Fs2004 and is available at FlightSim so someone would have to try a conversion but Mr Ito is firmly against converting any of his stuff to CFS and that has to be respected.

    The only alternative would be for someone to build a cfs 2 model from scratch.

    Hi Baldy,

    Thanks, that's the only one I could find. It appears Dombral did his own conversion.

    Gotha Go 242B-1

    Have just uploaded the improved Go 242B-1 glider - this a/c was fitted with a tricycle undercarriage to take-off /land from prepared airstrips showing possibly more use as a transport a/c than an assault a/c.

    Gotha Go 242B-1.zip

    A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - German

    Description: This glider was a development of the original Go 242. The major difference being that instead of jettisonable undercarriage for take-off and skids for landing it was equipped with a fixed tricycle undercarriage for normal take-off/landing. This was probably because gliders were more often used for transport duties than for assault landings, except in Yugoslavia and Southern France against partisans.

    Gotha Go 244

    Have just uploaded the Go 244 transport a/c - thus completing the progression from glider to powered aircraft

    Hope you like it, Boeingetc,
