    wife has a new job....

she has a new job and is away most of the week. So I had to decide, get a girl friend or rekindle my modeling. The former would have been interesting but frowned upon by some while the latter enjoyed by many. Altruistic person that I am I choose the modeling - well at least that is the public statement

Good choice; and probably cheaper over all!

Undercarriage animations should be fun on that one Ted: good decision all round!

I don't know Ted - I sometimes doubt your good judgement: given the choice between a 22-year old model or one that's roughly 77 years old, I am not sure I would have picked the same. But knowing you, the lights are off where you'll be taking her anyhow

Funny you mention that, the main gear arrangement was the reason I decided to model this plane. The one we have now really does not do it justice. There is a museum that has a working model of the main gear that made simulating it much easier, but goodness it is cool.

A great aircraft to do. Glad you are back at it as you are one of the modeling greats. Thank you for choosing to do this than the "other". It hard enough to keep just one happy than adding more into the mix ! Smart move.....

Make sure it's not a new boyfriend that keeps her away most of the week.

The Brits sure didn't waste any effort on aesthetics with this one. Design specification: "give us a box with wings and fill it with as many bombs as possible." It's looking nicely modeled Ted, I'll love to see the landing gear!

The original design was hampered by the Ministry specification that it should be able to fit through existing hangar doors so the wings always looked a little too short (and they were). This undoubtedly had a knock-on that it couldn't carry the intended payload so it never achieved its full potential. This said, I don't think that longer wings would have made it much prettier

Looking good. Hope the missus stays away a bit more often b4 school starts again.

BTW, is it a sort of visual illusion that the further wing looks bigger; sort of contra perspective?

No, it's one of the quirks of Gmax in User view.

Spot on Dave, the short wings did cause some issues. She could carry her bomb load alright just couldn't get it higher than a good sized mountain. those short wings led to medium heights at best which was a real problem when flying through FLAK. but they were very robust aircraft that could take a lot of damage.

really looking forward to this one Ted.

I wonder why they didn't make bigger wings later? Might have competed with the Halifax and Lanc?

    Icon23 ok

count me in, though a cruise altitude of 17k at about 245 mph is a bit dicey for me.... ouch is that a splinter?
