1, whats the secret? its not my place to say its up to Kat, Colin or the modeller to make comment, unless they have made an official statement already which Ive missed

2, All MV paintkits are detailed even down to nuts on the end of bolts, yeah its difficult but that the way the they like it and do it, this ensures the best possible outcome for the finished paint, yeah it upsets people, but the end results show the detailed, unlike other devs who do simple mapping that cause horrible texture warping or detail, yes the new kit is much the same format as the current one, but to be honest the beaver is one of the more friendlier kits in the product range,

How coming if Gunnar is painting schemes and Im holding out? well he's a guru with MV paintkits as hes the primary painter at MV and one of Colin's golden children(yeah take that Gunnar) and has been painting with them a hellva lot longer than me and he knows the mapping procedure and layouts like the back of his hand when it comes to the new models So his turn around time is considerably faster and Im laid up on pain meds due to 2 buggered shoulders, so im sticking to simple things as my attention span is about .0003%

3, me personally I dont like doing paints knowing there is going to be a change, I shot myself in the foot with the HS748 again by doing such.

It's true that the more you use a kit the easier it becomes. But 4 door hinges consisting of 5 pieces EACH plus one of those pieces is used twice! Sheesh! I had to make four separate 'detective' layers to isolate the hinges. I could go on..
Detail is great, I'm all for it, but where do you stop? I've done quite a few MV aircraft but none have been so anal as the Beaver.

EDIT: At least it's not as bad as Carenado's mangled offerings

2nd EDIT: Not sure about 'anal as the Beaver'. Something wrong there.

I'm hoping these and other issues will be fixed with the new UVW mapping. Have you posted your issues over at the MilViz forum?

I've never had the pleasure of a Razbam. (why do I want to say 'thank you ma'am'?)

I was a trained professional at one time.

Anyway, I'd also like to put my hands up in favor for that Naval TPS scheme that Henry requested. I would quite like to do a few LCL hops around Pax River in this aircraft...

Really there a LOT of cool paints for this one -- particular those residing up around coastal BC and SE AK. Now that said, I did love that Norwegian registry paint, thanks for that. And same for the P2 PNG paint -- great ideas. Love those that are to be found a bit off the beaten path.

Milviz is in the process of making an addon for the Beaver. The N9028 has been upgraded with straight floats and Barron STOL kit. Both model and paint are work in progress.
Here's the contents of the Beaver addon: http://milviz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=136&t=7778

With apologies to the OP for the segway.....

Gunnar- will this be a paid "add-on"? If so, any more information?

aaah, those door hinges, still trying to find them. I found only parts so far. Why can't they all be together, preferably in a logical order? Same for lots of other details, I agree Ron, some of the detail feels a bit too much. Who decided it was a good idea to make the doors a different size? I have a few paints that are nearly done, but still hang on those hinges and/or doors, this apart from tow ropes that became black suddenly. I'll get back to them, well, later I guess. But it's good to see Gunnar ignoring the hinges as well...
You can find most of my repaints for FSX/P3D in the library here on the outhouse.
For MFS paints go to flightsim.to

Amphibian C-FRBB just about ready to go. A main goal was to see if the float nose gear assembly could be restored, and the answer is ‘yes’ - but at a cost. The Milviz Beaver had its origins in the SoulMade Simulations DHC-2 made for X-Plane a couple years back. The new textures by Milviz are very much improved and result in an excellent ‘second generation’ model of this aircraft. Unfortunately, during the transition, the nose gear disappeared into the black background. This repaint is made up of modified pieces from the Milviz N5CC and N9028 paints that were copied and pasted on an SMS texture. This was a very time consuming and tedious task, as care had to be taken not to obliterate the desired parts which are scattered about everywhere. The good news is the nose gear is showing, but the bad news is a number of the newer Milviz details are not. The best solution, in my opinion, is a compromise. Carefully copy and paste the 5 main nose gear assembly components to at least get those parts showing, and just accept the black bolt heads and their surroundings.

I don't know how you go about finding needles in haystacks but what I do is to make four layers. Each one is a quarter of the page. Each quarter is then divided into four quarters with a different garish colour in each. I then make one of them visible and save. Look at the result. If the bit you're looking for shows up in said garish colour you've narrowed your search. If not, repeat with another quarter until you find the little bleeder! Some/most of the bits are so tiny you may well have to resize the quarter. So if you discover tiny bit in a purple section, resize into to purple section until you have....I'm sure you get the picture.

@Pierre, you'd do well to adopt a similar strategy. If the pipe is the first thing you can't find I guarantee you won't finish the paint!

Either that or you'll be back here for every nut and bolt.(And they ARE done individually!)

Yep. Every nut and bolt and everything else is there. Somewhere....

Thank you Gunnar, it's just a detail but ... step by step …

Ron, I'll remember your (colourful) tip, actually I did it but piece by piece, it's not enough and quite boring.

Up to now my " work "is just a kind of training, I don't know up to where I'will arrive.

I also deeply appreciate the job done by all of those painters of talent who regularily enrich our hangars.

    Pierre
